Gurus, please take a look. Is this MC6 bug true or not?

Knowing that many of you long time cakewalkers know a lot about the other versions, too, I took this link up from MC forum, as I know nothing about MC, and there is so much more traffic on this side. 
This issue described is so incredible that I'd like to hear comments/confirmation/solutions. Can it be like this - without a workaround?
This is the first time I hear about this and I really wonder...

    That's unbelievable.

    There must be a way to get them back surely?

    When was the last time MC6 was updated?
