HALION 3 - Sonar 5 Registration issues!

Halion 3 is working on my computer, and has worked both in re-wire mode and as a VST in Sonar 5.  Had to rebuild my computer.  Everything is working, Sonar Producer 5 recognizes Halion exists as a VST (the VST Manager indicates it is "enabled" and "registered") but not showing up or available in the VST Select Menu.  Halion plays and works beautifully in stand alone activation, no issues.  I even uninstalled Halion and then re-installed it to see if Sonar would simply see it as a new VST and complete the process of registering it.

This is a MUST USE VST/REWIRE SOFTWARE FOR PRODUCTION - Critical for production - Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using Sonar 5? If so what operating system are you using - did you change operating systems when you rebuilt your computer. I think you will need to let us know your full computer hardware and software specification including sound cards etc if you need further help

Thanks Nigel -

I am Running Sonar Producer in Windows 7 64-Bit OS. My previous computer was using Windows 7 as well, Halion 3 worked perfect as a VST or Rewire option. Do I need to completely remove Halion again and reload it and allow Producer to locate it and recognize it as a new VST / Rewire?

Or would upgrading to a newer version of Sonar Producer be the fix for this impasse?  Any ideas on how Halion 3 performs with newer Sonar Producer DAW systems?

Thanks again for your help.

Sonar 5 is quite old and if I remember you have to use a vst wrapping program with it - I always found the Cakewalk wrapper a bit funky so I used a third party wrapping program called direct-x-er - I only mention this as direct-x-er will not work in Windows 7.
I am wondering if you have a similar problem - but if you have had it working in the past perhaps this is not it.
Anyway I am really surprised Sonar 5 works satisfactorily in a Windows 7 64 bit environment and if I was going to do something first to try and improve matters, I would upgrade Sonar. Why not download the latest Sonar demo and simply see if this resolves matters.

Yep - prior to Sonar 6 VSTs were only supported with a wrapper.

Wouldn't hurt to upgrade for a small cost.

The wrapper should not be a factor. Recommending an upgrade as the first solution is missing the mark and could complicate the issue further. The OP has already stated that both the sampler and SONAR 5 worked fine under Win7 before the system rebuild. This problem has something to do with how the software was restored/re-installed. Halion is probably failing when it tries to register itself, perhaps due to some version mismatch or a missing file or an out-of-date DLL. I don't know what the problem is, but I would not recommend a SONAR upgrade as the first move.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
