HD crash - WAVES

I understand that the policy for my waves plugins are to unistall with a key code. I do not have wup at this time so I wanted to ask the good folks here if they have had a direct experience in working through a hard disk crash with the WAVES crew. What might I be able to do to work with them to get a new key code... I would suspect that they have a policy and a process. I want to know if it is in vain, therefore do not pay for wup, or that there is a process to handle clients with my kind of problem...

Any clues folks??

Thanks in advance!

Their whole position is ignorant beyond belief in this day and age. Some sort of software based protection mechanism, to keep the honest pepole honest, is quite reasonable and widely used. But the Waves folks are way too paranoid and it just costs them business. If I ever come up on the situation where I cannot get my Waves plugs back because they will not re-authorize me, I would never give them another penny of my money in my life, even if I wanted to. I think that they actually say you should buy insurance to basically re-pay them for the plugins you've already paid for, in case your iLok gets stolen or lost. I'm sure that works well for them, since they basically get twice the money from you. And if your iLok breaks, I think you have to send it in to them and you'll be unable to work for all that time. It's just basic business stupidity really.

Thanks folks - I do appreciate the interest and your candor - but I am looking for someone who has had to work through a hard drive crash and what the process is I might have to follow. I know that protection is important in many software shops, but so is production in my tiny little miniscule shop... Again - thanks !!

Anybody who has had to do this before?

I made contact with the support team this morning and they were glad to help me through this. I have heard others have issues, and I suspect they had valid points - but - they do have a process to follow if this occurs.

    Best Regards,
