HELP! Bus levels not the same as track levels [FIXED]
I solo this track and the output level seems normal. But the Bus it's sent to knocks it down too far. All settings are normalized. Is this normal?

No its not normal. I don't know what you might have in the PC to adjust level. Unless you some how have pre fader set for the meters. Don't forget Offset mode.

No PC. No Offset mode. No Pre fader. No FX. All sources are dry, direct and set neutral. I created a new bus and set it up the same and it works like it should, so, there is something funny going on with the existing busses. I will have to replace them all with new ones. I just can't figure what would cause this.

Try sending it via the SEND at the console, and turn off the write function. Track Send to Bus, Bus Send to Master? What are the ins and outs shown on your view? I assume it is the Dry signal, make it full wet. DMPX, Dry and Mix Level? Mine might read Guitar Track...(Guitar Input)...to (Guitar Bus)...to Master

I have similar issue with this. When i select a strip in the bus it doesnt reflect in the inspector. Creating new bus is the only solution. Im uploading the video at youtube right now . Ill post the link when its done.

I vaguely remember there being an option to lock the inspector so it didn't change, but I may be mistaken. I'll have a look next time I'm at my DAW.

From the reference guide: " To lock the Track Inspector to a specific track or bus Be default, the Track Inspector dynamically updates to show the current track. However, you can choose to always show a specific track or bus regardless of which track is current. 1. Click the track or bus you want to show in the Track Inspector. 2. Click the Track Name control in the Track Inspector and select Lock the current track or bus from the drop-down menu. To unlock the track or bus, select Lock the current track or bus from the menu again."

I guess the busses were bad. I replaced them and all is fine ... for now.

It definitely shouldn't do that without a cause. If you want to find the cause, you might try bypassing all FX with the global FX bypass button on the control bar. Also check OFFSET MODE. Ensure that you didn't accidentally use OFFSET MODE and reduce the volume.

Sorry, soens, my response was in reply to phrygiann's problem, but realise it doesn't help you. If it's working now, I guess it's one of those weird "happenings" that, hopefully, won't happen again. Glad it's sorted.

busses sometimes go bad. i don't know why. i was working on a mix, and the drums bus started sounding weird. i saved the pc as a preset, then created a new bus, dialed in the pc preset and voila, good as new. i have no idea on the cause...

No, but I learned something new. And that's always cool. jb101 If it's working now, I guess it's one of those weird "happenings" that, hopefully, won't happen again.
Over the years I have collected an exhaustive list of such occurrences, some 100x more bazaar than this and mostly unique to my system.
