HELP! Dragging audio,

OK, I am totaly lost with the new layout of X1.  Main problem now, and I don't even know what it's called, is....

When I want to, lets say, drag an audio clip over a measure.  Well, used to be I just clicked on it , dragged it right or left, and it automatically went exactly to the beginning of the measure.  Now in X1, I can put it wherever I want to, and it doesn't line up at the beginnin of the measure.  How do I get it to do this again?

Well, that still doesnt help, it only snaps to begining of measure if I actually do it on the Ruler at the top.  I want to be able to click in the audio pane and have it go to begining of the measure.

Try setting "Magnetic strength" in the setup window to "off". You can find it under Edit > Preferences > Customization - Snap and Nudge. Be sure you have "Move to" selected and NOT "Move by".

I'm not sure if I understand your question either.. but if you right click the "snap by value" button (the square one in the snap tool bar) and select "snap to" instead of "snap by", does that help?

If you have snap set to "whole" and to "snap to" the beginning of the clip lines up exactly with the start of the measure.

If you change it to "snap by" it will snap the clip relative to where it was recorded. It's good for exampe if you start to record a clip just before measure and then want to move it to another bar and still have it to start at the same time in the measure..

What you also can do is to set the "snap to value" to "snap to" and then right click the clip you want to move, right where you want the snap point in the clip to be. Then click the right mouse button and select "set snap offset to now time". The clip will now snap to the point you selected.
