HELP! Instrument Patches in X1

For some unknown reason, a synth I need is not putting any signal out of the main outputs so I am having to convert some tracks to my Tyros 2. Unfortunately, the instrument definitions were lost during a PC crash and restore a while ago. That's OK: I know how to calculate bank and patch numbers and type them in. Here's the problem: When I go to the Event List, I can't make this work. I just want to type in, for example, Bank=1060 and Instrument=5, but Sonar won't let me do that. I can click on the bank number to open a dialog and type in the Bank number, but then I cannot type the patch number. It forces me to choose from a list of patch names that don't make sense. (I can use the magnificying glass to see which numbers go with which patch names, but this does not work—trust me or I can give you the long explanation. ) When I exit the dialog in all cases, the Bank number I typed goes away. Why can't I just enter the values?

One possibility is that you have selected an instrument definition for some other synth or for patches that aren't in your synth. Is there not an instrument definition that uses numbers, not names? E.g. could you use something like "Generic (Patches 1..128)" that uses "Patch
  • =1..128" or "Patch
  • =0..127", whichever appeals to you. Edit: strange formatting happened for Patch(left bracket)(star)(right bracket)

Thanks, I did try generic patch but still cannot just pick or type a number--which I know I could do before. I am working on restoring the instrument definitions.
