HELP: SONAR 8.5 WILL NOT BOOT....code 1 error.

I uninstalled X1...and reinstalled 8.5 (8.0 + updates+8.5)
Now 8.5 will not work. It opens, but the error appears that says : (SONAR INSTALLED INCORRECTLY) CODE 1 ERROR.

Ive tried to reinstall several times..same problem.

Any suggestions to the problem?

Thanks,
Jeff

Working now with one problem though.....
I can only start 8.5 if I click "run as administrator"....I get an error is I just click open or double click icon.

Im sure it has to do with "permissions" but I cant seem to find the right thing to do.

    Any suggestions

    Thanks,
    Jeff

    I have the same issue..
Uninstalled reaper (said "yes" to uninstall any files from the shared folder)
    Installed S1
    Tried to open X1: error=1
    Tried to open S8.5: error=1
Tried to open S8.3: error=1; please reinstall from your original disk..
uninstalled and reinstalled sonar.. still the same issue..

did the registry and folder tweaks.. still the same issue..
infact, during installation sonar told me that a previous version has been found (no need to reenter the serialnumbers)

    my workaround..
right click the sonar-icon, go to properties, to "advanced(still in the "link" menu), check "run as administrator.
I can then run Sonar with a double click..

You HAVE to run Sonar as Administrator.  Especially 64Bit.

    Its actually in the manual.

yeah.. but you see the point..
    it worked before..
now, for some reason, you have to edit the start-icon or something else before sonar will start..
before Jeff and I uninstalled x1/reaper, we didn't have to bother too much about "running as an admin"

I'll just leave it that way for now, and will take into consideration a clean install in some months..

    I'm just wondering....

How many have been seeing this issue since the Windows auto-update on tuesday?

Some people are blaming S1 some are blaming Reaper and some are blaming X1 none of those things appear to be the common denominator with this, although W7 64 bit does.

You HAVE to run Sonar as Administrator.  Especially 64Bit.

    Its actually in the manual.

You have to run it INITIALLY to enter the reg code, after that it should not be required to run as admin.

(SONAR INSTALLED INCORRECTLY) CODE 1 ERROR.

As I learned last night, this is due to your setting of User Access Control in Windows 7 (or Vista). Unless you turn that to its lowest setting (off), you have to right click the X1 icon and select Run As Administrator.

Yea, I went through yesterday and and "right clicked" all my major programs and selected "run as administrator" just to be safe.  So far, no probs.
