HELP! Sonar Failed To Launch Help

Hello.  I recently update my copy of Sonar Platinum to the latest update.  i used the Command Center to do the update.

Today, I went to launch the file files, and got an error message: "Failed to launch Help".

I had a similar problem when I initially downloaded Platinum, apparently because the Help files are in a different download package (PLEASE CW: WHY DO YOU TORTURE YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS THIS WAY - MAKE THE HELP FILES PART OF THE MAIN SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD/INSTALL PACKAGE!!!!!!!!!!).

Can someone tell me how to get Sonar to launch the Help files?

Thanks.

Either install "SONAR Local Documentation" under the SONAR item in CCC, or go to Preferences>File>Advanced and uncheck "Always Use Local Help".  This will let Sonar display the online version when you invoke Help.

IIRC, the online is updated most often and is the source for the local version.

As far as "torturing customers" goes, the Local Doc download is sizable, so it's an optional download to keep from "torturing" users that prefer the online version.

Hello.  I have investigated a little further.  It seems there are now TWO installations of Sonar on my C: drive.  I believe this is because I did an original installation in custom fashion (CW folder on the C: drive, plug-ins in another folder on the C: drive, large audio and video files on a separate drive), and when I used the Command Center to update, a separate CW folder was created in C:/Program Files.

So now my problem has become a "do a clean uninstall and re-install of Sonar and related programs".

Hello.  Thank you BobF for your helpful reply.

My DAW is not online, so I always use the Local Help (the only Help files available to me).  The previous version (installation) of Sonar uses the Local Help.  Part of the torture (for me) is the new version (installation) of Sonar did not recognize the older installed version, and so could not find the existing local Help files already installed on my computer.

But it appears I actually have a greater problem of two separate Sonar installations on my computer, and have to fix this problem before I can properly address the missing Help files issue.
