HP Elitebook 8540p - anyone using it ?

Apologies for posting in the wrong forum (should have gone to "Computers", I know...).

I read all the good stories about the Elitebook W-series; low DPC latency, fast, reliable, solid build, etc..
Now I have the opportunity to buy an 8540P with the following specs:

HP EliteBook 8540p 2.67Ghz i7 6GB 320GB USB 3.0 HDMI 1600x900

Just wanted to see if anyone is using a P-series EliteBook, or maybe even the 8540p with X2.
Good choice ?
Did you run a DPC latency test on it, and can you share the results?

And more in general: if someone is running X2 in that exact same resolution (1600x900), can you make a screenshot (X2 fullscreen) and PM that to me please? Just want to make sure I can read the text on that 15" screen, when I go visit the seller of the notebook.

thanks in advance !

    I used to run SONAR on a 8710p.  I going to get a 8740w

Note that the firewire interfaces on HP Eilitebooks are not equipped with a TI-chpiset, as far as I know.
Anyway performance with my RME FF400 interface was not that good.

You'll have to use an USB-interface.

A 1600x900 resulation is a bit low for SONAR, in my opinion.
    The 8710p has a 1650 x 1080. But I'd rather have full HD.

    thanks Zonno!

    I found a 1600x900 (X1) screenshot here: http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2252820

Copied that on a USB-stick, together with DPCLAT.exe and went to see the seller of the 8540p this morning.

The laptop was in mint condition, the X1 jpg looked stunning, and DPC latency was between 120  and 250 uSec !

So long story short.. I couldn't resist and bought it :-)

I will use it for mobile recording only, and don't need the firewire port, as I have a Focusrite USB interface also.

If you'd be so kind let me know how you get on with the 8740W. I'm thinking about going with a 8760W for my mobile plans (not my main DAW).

I do however use a firewire interface but it runs fine on this old beaten up Toshiba that doesn't have TI chipset either, in fact I've never had a problem on a non-TI chipset yet. Maybe I've just been lucky.

I see that the 8760 also has an expansion slot for an express card which was my backup plan. It seems there are very few laptops out there with either FW or expansion slots nowadays.
