HP Pavilion / UA-25 / vista 32 - distorted audio
Hi to all.
I have just bought a brand new HP Pavilion DV5 notebook. Processor is "Turion AMD X2 64," ram is 2gb. I had intended to downgrade to XP, but have since found that XP is very difficult to run on this machine, so I am going to stick with Vista. I use Sonar 7, and Amplitube 2.
The problem is that when I output audio through my UA-25 interface the output is very stuttery and distorted (not subtle but extreme mangling).
One other strange symptom is that Cakewalk seems only to recognise the left channel of the UA-25 which leads me to believe this may be a driver issue.
I have never had an installation problem with the ua-25 in the past.
- I am running the Vista 32 drivers for the UA-25 from the Roland website
- I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the UA-25.
- The problem is not software dependent (ie the distortion is the same whether I am using Cakewalk or Itunes).
- I have played with the buffer size to no effect (and in any event this is a new machine and has easily the specs to run audio efficiently).
- I have set Vista to prioritise background processed.
I had the UA-25 set to advanced mode, and 44.1 when I installed.
- The machine is brand new and came with Vista installed.
- I have disabled all non-edirol ua-25 audio drivers.
- Another strange symptom is that when I try to uninstal the driver I get the message "the operating system you are using is not supported" - but the driver I installed was for Vista 32 (note that there (unlike XP).
- I have Disabled in the device manages all audio devices (except the edirol), the dvdr, wireless network, ethernet, webcam - to no avail.
I have checked the BIOS for audio devices (like Azaria) and found none.
- I have tried ASIO4all
Suggestions are very welcome!
