Yeh I can live with what we get.  My poor son is right down in the middle of that mess in Vilonia/Beebe Arkansas that got wiped out by tornados.  They are fine and that is all that counts. New shingles and maybe a lil body work, not so bad

About two weeks ago we had a bunch of 1/2" hail - that was bad enough.  I happened to be in a supermarket with a metal roof at the time - everyone stopped and began wondering if we were going to have a cave-in!  You couldn't hear anything for about five minutes.  Ten minutes later the sun was out, there was blue sky and about 1.5" of white stuff covering everything - wild!

My father was a strawberry farmer and he kept a journal of every years costs, production and the like.
I found his journal from March 1947 at the start of the strawberry season, there is an entry about a hailstorm destroying his entire crop.Nothing was produced that season, and he had purchased fertilizer and the like from the co-op on credit, so it was a bad year.

:(  My strawberries should start ripening up in a week or so...and it looks like a great harvest so far.  Fortunately it's not a whole farm.

Yeh figures, just put out my garden and the plants "were" about 12" tall.   The hail grew here between 1" to the size of A PING PONG ball.  We are getting a pretty good steady rain now so I am gonna get the ops check on the roof to see if any damage as far as leaks.  Dont wanna give State Farm a reason to not fix if needed    As for the car now, Im not sure what Ford is making that thing out of but I couldnt find a ding or a scratch after the larger stuff hammered it, "Amazing"

One of my customers is in the West Virginia Federal Penitentiary for the next 30 months (assuming good behavior) due to this..... well kind of.... he  was an insurance agent. And one of the things he sold was crop insurance to tobacco farmers for insurance against loss from hail. A Hail storm can devastate a tobacco crop in minutes leaving nothing but stalks in the field resulting in tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars (or more)  in loss from a single storm.

It seems he was greatly  over-estimating the size of the damaged crop and splitting the bounty with the farmers..... and he got caught. The amounts were in the millions of dollars of insurance fraud..... The farmers got fined and had to repay the money.  He got fined..... houses and business sold,  bank accounts seized, just to pay the fines, and prison time to teach him a lesson.

I'll bet he won't do that again.

we had hail last week some of it was bigger than what you're showing.  I took a video on my phone but the quality is absolutely horrid!  I was going to post it to show you but you can't really see it at all.

luckily my truck was in the garage!

Did ya get em to come out and inspect the roof Reece?  I just went up and all though they look fine as far as punctures goes, there are alot of areas where it beat the gravel outa the shingles, chipped em, etc...  They might not leak at this point but the life of them is shot once it drives all the exterior coating off the shingles only to come back and get ya in the long run.

Amazing,  my deductible that has been $500 for the last 20 years is all of a sudden $2000.  Not that is suspicious.  Well gonna get the quotes and see what else they come up with.

Mike - no I haven't but I suspect my roof is fine because I just had the insurance replace it less than 6 months ago and when the company replaced it, I paid to upgrade to the 30year shingles and whatever that roof speak level 3 or whatever.  in other words I bought a roof that hopefully should last thru a few hail storms - and since we have them every spring here in N.Cent. Texas, I thought it was a good investment (and I get a discount on insurance because of the better roof so the extra $ I paid will pay for itself in less than 5 years!).

Oddly enough, it just hailed here, after I first read this.  Very, very rare.  Like a woman I know likes her steaks.  But I digress...

Best wishes, Mike, for a quick damage recovery.  At least much that matters survived unscathed...
