Haiti's Quake

Any hopes?  Any solutions?  Any at all from you song writers?  I realize this is vexing for all of you but I desperately welcome any thoughts from you.

I was thinking i'd be of more use there than here but then i realized how utterly paralyzed I'd be by the horror of the situation and would end up adding to the already heavy burden.
$$$  along with prayers is  all i can think of 'doing'.

Nothing much will help until they can fix their airport situation.

    It's a tragedy, very devastating!

Links posted to legit donations sites (red cross, others), post them here. I've add links to my charities page.

I read about the airport situation. They have ships and helicopters to fly in there and drop off vital supplies.

    Thanks Rick and Greg,

    Your words comfort me.

I suppose the Red Cross + military troops/devices ... are the most urgently needed in order to get the help through.

Its extremely difficult to sleep, bathe, and not be bitten by mosquitoes in Haiti.  That has always been my greatest fear.

    Philip,

On the morning news I saw folks here in the states greeting children they had adopted.
The situation did speed up the adoption process. Not sure how long they'd been involved with the process.
Getting children to their new homes and away from the crisis was very good to see.

    Thanks for chiming Spacey,

Adoption is great news, for the many true orphans of Haiti!

There are hundreds of *con-orphanages* in Haiti ... the majority of these children do have pining living parents ...

These pining yet aspiring parents oft allow their biological children to be utterly kidjacked by *Haitian orphanages* as a desperate hope; the 'charity' con by religious *pastors* has been exceedingly great:

... to dangle the children for U.S. cash, and legally contracting with the poor Haitian parents to pay for their starving child's *schooling* ... and/or never see their children again.

Americans have 'sincerely' built all these religious churches and orphanages and watched them transform into hellish scams ... for multi-US-charity cash.

That the quake broke down many of these scam *churches* and *orphanages* while preserving many children's lives, may be a good thing, IMHO.

Be careful not to give $$$ to rebuild a *religious Haitian orphanage* ... unless that orphanage is real, accountable, and that promotes the biological family 1st and foremost.

The horror of poverty is so graphic in Haiti.  I've been reading about the orphanage racket down there.   It's one of the country's big industries.
Making money on poverty and death.   The poor suffer even more excruciating humilating pains to have to part with their children for some food in their stomachs while the orphan mills feed off the good will of the foreign 'better-offs'.
A horrible situation beyond just being financially broke.  It's being completely impoverished.  I'm ranting because I feel so ashamed of my lack of involvement and my cozy soft bed and warm house.
    God help us.

Jacques, a co-worker at Wal*Mart, is from Haiti.
His niece lost her husband in the earthquake.
He hasn't been to the island in many years, he said, but is considering a return to help with the rebuilding efforts.

Philip, right or wrong I don't donate money to situations like this...because the government is doing that. It's my tax dollars at work.
I do however donate to institutions and charities within the US for US citizens.

I kinda feel like while the government is using my money to help with "others back yards" I'm spending a part helping clean up "our back yard" or at least take care of it.

Thanks Rick for validating this vexing horror.  'Makes me feel like we're all sinking on the Titanic.

Spacey, I certainly hear you.  I can't donate to the Red Cross, nor Doctors without Borders, nor Partners in Health.  But for a different reason.  None will accept volunteers outside their clans ... unless you're an orthopedic surgeon or specialized wound care nurse.  Because of that, I (personally) will not give to these 3 corporate giants.

57Greg, thanks for chiming and sharing about your friend's thoughts.

SavageOpera: "Floods and earthquakes in diverse places" ... was quoted by the Christ.  Amen sir.
