You've got a problem with your computer. No one else is having this problem. Maybe you need to run a memory and disk scan and a FULL virus scan. If you're using free plug-ins, get rid of them.

If you're using free plug-ins, get rid of them. Get rid of free plugins??? Seriously?? No more Ferric or DC1A. Getting rid of older synth edit plugs is probably a good idea, but a lot of the newer freebies are rock solid as well some golden oldies like the classic series. I would agree though that he probably has a buggy plugin. To the OP - watch the scan when sonar starts. Usually a plug that is causing trouble will hang long enough for you to see it.

CakeAlexS So you are running on a XBOX( I hope your PC is dual boot. Gaming and DAWing not a good idea. Could you elaborate on this, Alex? I don't play a lot of games but I've got my old copies of CoD and CoD 2 on my DAW without any noticeable weirdness. I was thinking of getting some more modern games (well not ultra modern because I don't have a $200 vid card) but obviously don't want to bork up my audio stuff. Cheers.

I have all the COD games and can assure you they do NOT affect DAW performance. And its not dual boot. I do not play any on-line games, never had and have no interest. I do have a Steam account, of course, but its set up so i sign in manually. I also don't understand Alex's comments. Cheer, Jerry

The only thing I can think of that might cause issues is if the system was tweaked for gaming. If a game doesn't want to work on my system as is it just doesn't get played. Unless the game changes settings somehow automatically I can't see just having it installed causing any problems. It's not like I'd be playing them with Sonar open. That'd be quite the feat though. Killing nazis on one screen and laying down some sick beats on another. lol

My view is always keep your DAW Windows installation as clean as possible for maximum reliability and performance. Games for instance often require extra programming libraries that directly integrate with windows. Reg bloat can increase etc. Games in the past have been notorious at writing at wrong areas in the registry and installing software that can slow down Windows or even crash it (eg an update). In fact I have a multiple boots.. DAW, entertainment, and app development. Also Windows 8 and Linux. No way would I install Visual studio and Sonar side by side, that is crazy! I'm not saying its impossible for both to run side by side, but I personally would not recommend it at all. More software equals more to go wrong. Just my opinion. I rarely get issues. Not to say I never will..

BTW steam does some weird piracy checking with your hard drive (yuk). If you are running that make sure you at lease turn off the app in system tray and disable any steam related services. Watch out for punk buster (other apps such as quake) and VAC (Vax?).

What system ? My computer system. I offered some suggestions and you said "haha ,,,,its a fullon gaming rig ...best hardware ,,,,,,dont you worry about my system ---haha ", but you can't even load a project on it. My comment was that I may not have the fastest gaming computer, but at least it works. Get it? It was a sarcastic response to your bravado about your computer. You wanna discuss it over a beer?
