Happy 4/20!

Although it's been many, many years since I've celebrated myself, I wanted to extend my holiday greetings to those who may be enjoying the festivities. End the prohibition!

A couple years back I was with a colleague in Boulder Co on business on 4/20 and we decided to go see the world's largest celebration of 4:20.

Actual member of NORML here. Lets make room in the jails for people who actually deserve to be there. I'd be happy with decriminalization, and legal to posses or grow a certain amount for personal use.

When was the last time you've seen "4 killed in stoned driving accident". Never because we're too busy lying on the couch dropping spaghetti sauce on our shirt or being covered in Oreo crumbs.

If pot was made legal, they say that with the profits and taxes we could wipe out our country's national debt within 2-4 years. Instead of spending millions and millions of $$$ on fighting this loosing battle known as the war on drugs.

Not only that but with the stalks and stems left over from the harvest they make a fuel that can run a combustion engine.

Hmmm, wipe out debt, empty the jails of people caught with a little weed and a cheep, homegrown fuel source which leaves behind no dangerous by-products. I don't see a down side.

Some try to pull the old argument that it's addicting and a gateway drug, BS. I had smoked pot for about 25 years and one day just stopped. No side effects or withdraw. And as for the weak excuse that it's a gateway drug..... alcohol was always my 'yes' drug. Get me a good buzz going and I'll snort, smoke or eat anything. Alcohol is by far the most deadly dangerous drug on the planet and that's still legal.

If your going to keep marijuana illegal then do the same to booze. Include everything or nothing.
For a lot of people THC is medicine so you might as well arrest people for cough syrup, aspirin, Tums etc.

Don't get me started, this subject pisses me off with all the double standards and wimpy politicians who also smoke but are afraid to vote for it for fear of going against the grain of the uneducated elders occupying some chairs.
God forbid you stand up for what you believe in and fight for it. We need a few people in the Senate or Congress to dig deep, find their nads and not be afraid to use them.

I wish I could add the Archie Bunker theme to be playing in the background during this post.

    Mike

PS. I kept this post as short as I could but I can go on for pages and pages on this subject.
Having had a few friends with cancer (one with a brain tumor that was in-operable) who smoked and were able to go out and function because of gods natural herbal supplement. All of them have been in remission for several years now and the brain tumor is all gone except for a little scar tissue, 20 years now.

Bub, have no fear, Mike is here. I'll come by and help clean up those damn weeds.
I'll even remove them from your property and make sure they're disposed of properly.

Probably going to need some munchies lunch or snacks though. it might be a long day, weekend, week.

Mike - looking at the results of Portugal's decriminilization, it would definitely support your arguments!

IMO, the main reason why pot may be considered a "gateway drug" is because a lot of people buying pot are getting it from a drug dealer who is pushing (or at least exposing them to) other things. If those same pot smokers could go down to the local liquor store and buy a pack of joints, they wouldn't be in contact with those dealers in the first place. If people had to go to a crackhouse to buy a 6-pack of beer, more drinkers would end up using stronger drugs too!

Most of Portland thinks it's 4/20 everyday.  I'm probably one of the few around here that doesn't partake (I've never smoked anything actually).  However, I've seen plenty of really smart people when they are "stoned" and they still function very well so I'm also inclined to say "legalize it."  That said, maybe they could make cigarettes illegal instead - damned annoying things they are!

Many have tried to legalize it. It's an uphill climb. Payola is the only answer to get it out to the masses legally.

Oh wait, I thought we were talking about Mooch.
