Happy Birthday RR

Randy Rhoads would've been 59 today. Hard to believe he's been gone so long.

    Randy Rhoads would've been 59 today. Hard to believe he's been gone so long.

    Long story short from 1974. I played in a band with a guitarist named Randy Root who taught Randy Rhoads' older brother some guitar. Younger Rhoads idolized Root and emulated his playing style. Rhoads even went on to cop Root's RR logo.
     
    Whenever I hear the few recordings I have my time with Root, I hear Rhoads in there. Root is near 64 now and alive and well in Pittsburgh living under his real name.

    I have yet to hear another guitar player who speaks to me like Rhoads. For my taste, his playing represents the greatest combination of virtuosity and emotion.
