All I'm seeing is the purchase of 3.0 for $175.  No upgrades that I see.  ;-(

Nothing here yet either or a path for the coupon.  Understanding it may take a little bit to get sorted out.  Hope I'm on the email list!  Update looks insane.

    Same experience here.

Also, the login for the download is a bit confusing.  Login name is your real name (Not your email address),  and who would think that "Customer ID" is actually the order number from the invoice?  Tried a few combinations before I hit on the right one.  Is it too much to ask for the "order number" to be called, well, the order number?!

Finally, am I correct that the Windows download is only in 32 bit?  (In addition to a 32bit demo, that was all I saw for Windows in the DLs area.  On the OSX side, there seems to only be a 64 bit release).  I haven't read all of the forum threads, so maybe there's some technical explanation for this, and I'm just out of the loop...?

I contacted tech support and was told this, "One other point to make note of. There is no difference in the DSP in 32

    arithmetic data paths.

I'm not Jerry, but Ican answer your question.

If you didn't receive an email with the upgrade info (and it seems that quite a few didn't - myself included - then you need to contact Harbal tech support.  I got a response, with the appropriate links, within 12 hrs.

If you do email them, obviously be thorough and provide your name, email address and order number (of your original Har-bal order, if you have it).

In the response I got, it was suggested that my spam filter deleted the first email, as my email address did indeed match their records.

Since I've never before seen this behavior with my spam filter, and given the number of folks here who still haven't gotten their emails, I believe the problem is with their email delivery system.

In the next few days, when they're inundated with requests from registered users, maybe they'll realize this.

My harbal works well? Why should I spend the money for the upgrade?

It's a major upgrade for a piece of software that you like, and it's only $30.  You'll have the current version and you'll be supporting a talented software developer.

    Did I mention it's only $30?

If you're struggling financially, then, obviously save your money.  Otherwise, see if there's a demo and just try it out.

And, no, you might not need it, but it's very possible that the new features can make your mixing/mastering easier or more enjoyable.

It's up to you whether or not you think that's worth $30.

I never got the e-mail, even though I have used 2.3 for years. The support link on their site asks you to download some crapware CAPTCHA program to finalize your communication. I went on the net and connected to their forum where I found an e-mail address for support. I sent them my name and my old e-mail account and a few ripe comments about how ridiculously complicated this has to be.

All I got back was an e-mail from Earle telling me to use something else. He was resentful that I would suggest that there was ANY problem with their communication! That seems to be at odds with other comments on this forum.

Basically - He told me to Go To Hell !

Seriously guys, this is a "convenience" program. It's nice for a quick tweak on a premaster.

These people seem to think that they are God's gift to engineers!

Oh well, one less thing to worry about...but I would think twice about a company that sends you WACKY e-mails and takes 7 years to upgrade at twice the cost of the original program. Just sayin'.

    I was flabbergasted.

Earle is easily offended. But he is, after all, a world-famous mastering engineer. Some idiosyncracies are to be expected at that level.

OK, I can accept that.  I don't listen to or master any rap or hip-hop so I only know of this fellow peripherally.

Having said that, I do know people who are well known and vastly talented and don't act like ass-hats.

I dumped HarBal from our workstations and will use GlissEQ 3 for dynamic EQ. It seems like a nice interface, is a fraction of the cost and is a plug-in.  Now that I am forever banned from upgrading my 99 dollar 7 year old program that I didn't use that much, I am cerainly not going to pay 175 bucks to line the pockets of some some famous guy who seems to hate me.

I recently picked up Steven Slate's FG-X that is in the same general street-price range as HarBal 3. If you want to put the finishing touch's on a Demo mix and crank out a quick and REALLY nice sounding mp3 it is a HUGE time saver and much cheaper than other "finalizing" software. THAT is my idea of money well spent!

I didn't get the email. But trying to contact HarBal support, my problem's kinda dumb...
I can't get 'really simple captcha' to work. So I can't send the email

How on earth do you install it? What do I do?

    I use Chrome.

he is, after all, a world-famous mastering engineer

That was meant to be facetious. Earle is world-famous by self-proclamation only.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
