Hard Drive on a Bumpy Road
I have 2 x 1Tb drives.
Both are Seagate Barracuda's.
The Boot drive started showing up a S.M.A.R.T error although it seems to be working perfectly now it is itself predicting it will fail.
Seagate are cool they supply some diagnostic software which will give an error code and all the information to request a return and I already have got a replacement on order subject to the return of my 'defective' drive.
It has meant hiving off enough data to fit onto the remaining drive and installing an OS and the essential applications I need while the drive gets swapped out.
Trouble is it's taken longer to do that than the 3-5 days my fully working broken drive will take to be replaced.
I could 'ghost' my disks but when they are 1Tb in size I'd need another 2 drives just to keep the backups on. Ah well, a good time to trim down and clear out some garbage I suppose.
Computers, eh?
