Hard Rockin! Song

This was like my 3rd song or so w/MC4, I've learned a lot since then.

I posted another song a couple days or so ago which was my first w/mc 4. Anyway this song when I done it, I had a problem with a few tweaks I done on my computer and restored it and lost the master mix file or bundle file I should say which I thought I had saved to my external hard drive.

Anyway this was a fun tune to do and thought I would let everyone hear it. I don't know if I will re-record it or not because I am working on some other projects right now. I've learned a lot in the past months since I started w/MC4 on recording and all and doing this song and the other I have posted. I know this song has flaws and the "Vocals" if you can call them that are not all that great but I have to be able to convey my thoughts somehow on how I feel my song should go. I'm workin' on it and maybe I'll get it right with some of my new projects.

I hope you like it. Thanks for taking the time to listen!

Keep on keepin' on!

The title is "Hard Rockin!"

Are we ready to rock!!! Hey Freeze, you sound more confident in this song. I noticed that the rythm guitar is panned all the way to the left and the lead guitar (solo) is panned to the right. Did you do this on purpose? I'd move them a little more to the center, but that's my preference and I'm not an expert (I'm still learning).

Cool song man, I'm hearing some RATT vibe in the verses as far as the guitar tone goes. sounds good! I think the kick drum could stand to be a little more pronouced though. Overall good job . Keep rockin hard!!!

Thanks man! I have a little problem with this mix, I lost the master to it because of a computer problem that is fixed now, although I had this mix saved to CD which is what you are hearing. There are flaws, but I mean you can find those in anything if you look long enough. It was fun to do and thanks for listening to my tune. Maybe sometime we could do some kinda 80's metal collaboration that would be cool. I'm not in this to become famous or nothing like that I just like making some noise. Thanks again!

Thank you! Yep you are right, I listen to a lot of Ratt and Dokken, George Lynch was a big influence on my guitar education which is still "Ongoing" I must say. You are right also about the drums, I'm getting a little bit better day by day, LOL, I posted my first song to begin with and realized I didn't even have a kicker in the drums set and still don't know why. I guess we all live and learn and "Living" is the best part!

Thanks again for the kind comments.

Part of it is in my signature but not all. I use COSM Boss BR1600 effects to record my guitar sounds. I use my Boss BR1600 digital out connections into my computer to record at 24 bit, it seems to work pretty good. This was reccomended to me when I started w/MC4 which is what I am using and it seems to work pretty good sound wise for me.

I will tell ya though, after many years gone by, I still think that the BOSS DS-1 PEDAL is still one of the best pedals ever made IMO when it comes to any kinda heavy rock or metal kinda sounds, it's kinda in that happy medium soundscope so to speak JMO.

Thanks for listening and for your thoughts!

    Keep on keepin' on!

Thanks Guitarhacker! Yep you are right about learning early on. Where I made my mistake was I have everything backed up every night to my external hard drive, well I didn't take into account when I restored my hard drive that the files had not been saved which was scheduled to be done that night, that's how I lost it, I got careless, now as soon as I finish anything I save the bundle files to a seperate folder on my external hard drive. I think I'm gonna start saving those on DVD also just to make sure. Well I say computer problem but I was actually trying out some new software programs, a bunch of them and just thought it would be easier for me to just restore the hd instead of uninstalling it, a hard lesson learned. I use Acronis True Image latest version and it's always worked good for me, It backs everything up even Windows.

    Thanks again!

I have to say you are right on about moving the guitar a little closer to center in my opinion, I should have done that. I think I mighta been listening to Van Halens 1984 album at the time, not sure, I know they done that on some of those songs. But hey he's Eddie Van Halen he could just put the guitar only anywhere in a song and it would still sound great!

I don't feel like commenting on the mix as pretty much everyone else has...so I'll focus on the music & playing instea ( whew, got off the hook on that one.) Yeah, I like the boss distortion & the old Ibanez Tube Screamers pedals as well. I think for this tune, a little reverb would be appropriate on your vox, maybe even use a volume envelope on the vox as it is uneven volume-wise in spots, just to make it smoother. Hey, I like the song as it certainly has a 'live' feel to it! Excellent guitar tones and playing..I like the way you left the ending... Good song IMO.

    Great guitar!

I kept meaning to reply to this, and somehow kept getting distracted.

Not much to add that has not been said already.

Man, I just checked out your SoundClick Page and you sound FREAKIN AWESOME! On all aspects of the songs! WOW! That's some serious sounds!

    Just wanted to say that.

But I must ask what's your setup? Are you using Cakewalk software? And what sound card? And how do you connect your instruments to it? What I heard sounded really proffessional and it was great! Very clean sounding, over the top in terms of a rating system!

Thanks for taking the time to listen to my noise because that's what it is!

Hey, I think you should get a song review from someone who is a fairly to well known music critique. See what they say. Someone independent who has no reason to lie to you.

Thanks for listening first and foremost! Thing is I am taking everyone's advice very seriousally because they know a whole lot more than me and it can only make my recordings better. All at the same time though, I just wanted to get some of my stuff heard because it was fun making some noise after a long time away from not making any noise that's all. I'm not playing music anymore to make money or to try and get famous or anything like that, I've been down that road and got sick of it many years ago 18-20 or so and just flat out give up under the pressure, childhood fantasies I guess you might call it. I'm no proffessional and don't claim to be but I enjoy making some noise from time to time, that's all. There are several flaws in this that have already been pointed out, for one I didn't spend enough time on it, that's been my biggest problem "Not taking the time to practice and just flat out going for it", one takes, I'm gonna stop doing that. The next song I do and post on here I am gonna spend some time with. Although I did wanna get this and another work of noise out there just for everyone to hear because I chat with everyone so much I figured I would put some static in their ears for a change!

Thanks for listening! Thing is, nobody has said anything about how the tempo really has a lot of lag to it, I'm surprised about that, but maybe it doesn't, I dunno. Either way it was fun to make this noise up. Next one I'm gonna put a little polish and shine on but not in a manner as to say it's going to go somewhere commercially, in a manner as to say "I hope it sounds good".

    Thanks again!

Nice definition on the individual instruments. This is not my typical genre, so take this with a generous grain of salt, but the compression and the hard panning on the guitars got a bit fatiguing in headphones after a while. (I'd have to give it a listen on the monitors to be fair though). Excellent guitar chops and tone for sure.

The guitars are in tune, and have a good tone, but at about 0:10 the guitar starts to float in and out of time with the tempo.
Check it with a metronome set to go during play back and you will see what I mean.
If you are not using a click track to record with, using one , or getting used to working with one could really help.
This is no dis on your work. Just some help like you were asking for.
If you had Sonar you could fix some of that with audio snap, but it's better to fix it in your playing.

Thanks for the info., very interesting stuff. Hey : "Can I hear some of your tunes?

Not a problem. Sorry I gave advice as I re-read your original post and saw you were not looking for
    any. My bad.
