Harmless but Dumb?
When you click on a pan automation node and click the down arrow, the node and line in the lane go up. In other words, clicking down is left, but left is up in the display. Vice-versa for right. Doesn't hurt anything but violates a few usability laws.

Anyway validated, top line is left, bottom line is right when using pan automation.
Move the mouse button up on a pan pot and it moves right, move it down and it moves left.
opposite...
My view is the pan pot behaviour needs to be inverted.
However...
Does anybody know what the behaviour is here with Pro Tools etc?

Quite a while ago I was in a testing kind of mood and wondered which DAWs used pan on top = left and which used pan line on bottom = left. IIRC there was no standard but the majority did pan on top = left.

So to be clear Craig...
Top line is left, bottom line is right when using pan automation.

Are they at least all consistent when it comes to automation vs pan pot ?
(I won't be using Pro Tools for several weeks now so I can't test this scenario myself sadly).

Hmm just established that if you drag hold your mouse up over a pan pot in almost any plugin the pot will turn right.
That would suggest to be consistent the top automation line should be right, which I'm told so far isn't the DAW standard...?

I've never really even given it a second thought. Always just knew that top is left and bottom is right. But I see your point now that you have mentioned it. But to me...it would seem backwards now since I'm so used to it being the way that it is :) .

This is an old standard that predates DAW's. If you look on the back of your old cassette decks, vcr's, stereo equipment, tv's, etc. - you will find that left is on top, right on the bottom of your inputs and outputs, generally.

I am not complaining about Left being on top. That seems OK to me.
The problem is that the Node Properties box is the opposite: left is down and right is up.
It's just inconsistent.
