Harrison Mixbus... **UPDATE: flash sale of 2 plug-ins for $10/£6.13 (until May 10th)**
They have two of their plug-ins ( GVerb+ reverb + 3D Triple Delay) on offer now for $10 (£6.13 + VAT): Offer ends on May 10th. ===================================================== Offer is good until midnight on May 15th. Check it out HERE if you're interested. Seems well worth a punt at that price as an extra string to one's bow.

Too good to resist, as far as I'm concerned. Who wouldn't want a Harrison desk, even just a virtual one?

And I'm now reminded just how inefficient and heavy on the CPU it is compared to Logic. Just launching it - after the one mandatory crash during start up, another thing I had forgotten - and the CPU sensor jumps from 58 degrees to 77 degrees. I rarely see it go beyond 72-75 when using Logic, even when recording overdubs in projects with a bunch of VI and tracks and FX and busses... :/ But it does lend itself to mixing, beautifully so...

I've never had Harrison Mixbus crash on me (yet).

The few times I've installed it, it ALWAYS choked and crashed the first time I launched it. But it never crashed after that, no matter how much of a strain it puts on the CPU and how sluggish it can feel.

This is quite a cool bit of kit for next to nothing. Even poking around using the "I'm a bloke so I won't read the destructions I'll just push some buttons and twiddle some knobs" approach it seems quite intuitive. Mind you, as my good friend Mr Bapsi mentioned a while back, I think it might be worthwhile investing in their plug-ins at some stage. Plus I've only got 1 or 2 of my own 32bit VSTs installed on my PC for use in SONAR, so it looks like I've got some work to do downloading and/or digging them all out.

I gave it go. I doubt I'll ever use it. It was easy to install. I recorded a couple of measures of guitar- spent about 15 minutes checking out stuff and then realized it was of no value to me. After using X3 it was something like going from light speed to a crawl. Just my take and sure there are those that it could be a great deal.

I will say this about MixBus. To my ears I like it. Just "a little" bit more than SONAR upon export. I said this once before but I did the best I could to do an apples to apples mix of the same raw tracks in SONAR (X2) and MixBus. Basically I did a mix only (no EQ changes or FXs of any kind). MixBus had just a tad more clarity for me. End of story.

Yes, but 3.0 will be out soon and it expected to be 64bit. Who knows, maybe if you buy now you'll get 3.0 at no cost.

That had crossed my mind too Ed, and was another reason for my taking a punt with this (other than the give-away price). And even if the new version isn't a free upgrade, I would have thought that there's bound to be a decent discount for registered users. The 32bit limitation is stopping me from giving it much attention at the moment, but I reckon a 64bit version with 64bit VST support would definitely get some serious use. One thing I'm struggling to grasp is the "Jack" feature, or more accurately it's lack of 'full' implementation in Windows. It seems a bit daft not to have addressed this when it works on Mac OS and Linux. Is Jack supposed to work like 'Rewire' I wonder. Being able to route the signal directly from SONAR in real time to Mixbus (and back?) would be what I really would like to be able to do.

You're using ASIO? I've not tried it yet (my slave master has me working on a song right now ), but maybe he is actually using both of his soundcards? Maybe that's why he mentioned both.

Ah, I see. Would that explain why he chooses to monitor through just one application (Mixbus in this case)? I'll have to whip out my VS-20 then.

Thanks Krist. And yes Ed, I'm trying with 64bit X3. I don't have a 32 bit 'X' version of SONAR installed. I think 8.5.3 is installed in both flavours though.

Link still says $69. Go to Checkout and add FLASHSALE1 to the Update Coupon box and then click Update Coupon to reload the page with the $10 price. The things we gotta do... OK, so I paid the $19.99 for the No-Brainer Mixbus Deal and get the links. After 25 min. of download time I click on the folder link to open it and get "This program might have been removed or deleted." HUH?!?!?! A search reveals no such file on my system. So I am now RE-downloading the file..... 20 min. to go Stay tuned
