Yeah, I wouldn't mind owning one of these. I just can't imagine the skill to duplicate to this degree.

Good point Marcos.

For the Custom Shop guitars the distressing costs about an extra $1k... it's hard to imagine many people would spend the extra $1k without caring one way or the other how it looked.

best,
mike

An extra $1K for distressing?  Hmmm.  I'd be willing to pay that if (and only if) they could certify the work was done by chimps.  Chimps with power tools.  That is a YouTube video I'd like to see.

I know someone who has a "distressed" Fender. He's had some great guitars in the past. Through those changes "life" can throw at a guy, he parted with some guitars that today are considered classics and demand big bucks. He paid his dues on the road, in bars and such. He doesn't need to impress anybody. He liked the way this particular guitar played, sounded and looked. He got a decent deal too, if compared to a new undistressed model.

I wouldn't think of calling this guy a name, or question whether his reasoning was suspect. You wouldn't either if you knew who he was. Sad thing is, most of you do.

Hey Randy, I think you may be over looking or mistaken a certain aspect...

For example; I'd be the first to agree that it's cool to be in Show Biz...

Your friend, if he is who I think he is, could easily be happy with a bright shiny $400- Standard Strat.

It seems like playing a pre scar'ed guitar isn't much different than wearing leotards with a hole in the knee.

Whatever floats your boat and that kind of thing. :-)

best,
mike

Seems like the kind of thing you would take to a Star Trek fest.

Seriously, would you ever take it on stage? What do they run? I've seen the Fender Custom hop versions from $5k -$13k?

Seriously would you ever be seen on stage with that thing?

I know a guy who did it too a Mexi Strat... bought the SRV stickers and everything... I thought he ruined it.

Mike, nah I didn't overlook anything. My friend I'm speaking of is one of the most talented musicians I know and one of the most respected members on this forum and has been for years. He wouldn't be just as happy with a 400 dollar Strat either. His last Strat was a Custom Shop and it was flawless.  I'm fairly sure he can buy any instrument he wants. He doesn't perform live any longer, and has no need to impress anyone with a certain type of guitar. I doubt any body even will see it, other than his wife. He just flat liked the one he bought. Not because he's pretending to be something he's not, or because he's going to lie to someone and tell them he's had it for years. I've seen the guitar, and it's just a damn cool guitar and it sounds great. Simple as that.

Cheers
Randy

I'd go to a Strat Trek fest with it. I hope I don't go on stage with any guitar. Done that..way to many years.
And if I could distress mine the way I'd like...puff, puff, oops....long as it still tunes and plays...puff, puff, oops....

I've bought ever guitar I own as an investment..........investing in my enjoyment. I currently have enough to keep me distressing to the final oops.

Not to my knowledge, but like I said, his wife is the only one who goes into his music room. Could be he throws a pair on when he's feelin frisky.

Hi,

This is road worn! And he got at least a couple more years out of it!
