Has anyone tried IE 10 yet??

I have been consiously ignoring it. Maybe if I don't lok at it ... it will not be there. Heck, it may be good, what do know but I am really not happy about comitting to it in order to find out. Would you mind?

I hesitated installing it also. I installed it earlier and it doesn't look any different than 9 to me.

Thanks for the heads up, I decided to try it and it looks almost identical to IE9. It's running smooth and fast for me, no problems to report so far. The big selling point for me is that it is supposed to be more secure than any other browser against malware. So we'll see.

I seriously think I'm done with getting excited about new browser updates, new OS's, and new smartphone launches (the Galaxy S IV launch today...meh!). All I care about now is new DAW and plugin updates. They rule!

IE10 is much faster on my system than IE9 but I have a problem with running music videos on it.  It keeps asking me to install Adobe Flash every time.

I think there's something going around about that...  I've run into some sites where I'm asked to install Flash because mine appears to be out of date (it's not).  Then you look and realize the website in the URL isn't Adobe's (which would also be secured, so look for https).  I would definitely recommend NOT updating your Flash from anywhere but Adobe's website!

I installed it a few days ago. To be honest, I can't tell much of a difference from IE9 as far as loading times go.

I do like the Chrome style spell-check they've added though.

I get that maybe once a week with ie 9. I think it may have something to do with some websites, not sure though.

Thanks! Maybe I'll give it a try. I suppose to roll back to 9 I just uninstall 10, I did that a couple of times with 9 (back to 8) before I got used to where things were.

Got it. I was starting to have accelerator problems with 9. I installed 10 and the Norton firewall was blocking everything, I let help run and it fixed it. I guess I need to check and make sure I still have a firewall... other than that everything seems fine again... I hope.

I don't know why ie keeps asking me if I want to disable add-ons. There aren't but 4 or 5 and they add less than 2 seconds to load time. I don't see it as a problem, I don't know whey ie or windows seems to.

edit> Yep, firewall is on and accelerators are working.

Julien, somewhere in the 'Disable plug-ins' dialogue, there's an option to set the minimum load time of an add-on. I've set mine up at 2 seconds so I don't get the message unless anything takes longer than that to load.

Every so often I get a "Explorer has stopped working" error but then it recovers itself right away so it's just a minor distraction. Other than that it's working great and really fast.

Ever notice that there never seems to be an update for Notepad?

Notepad always works. I used it to build my website as well as make changes. There are many other software out there to create a website but notepad works just fine and never failed me. Probably one of the most stable software made.

I updated yesterday and went to a couple internet Speedtest sites. I keep getting the message that my version of Flash player must be greater than 8.0. Went to the Adobe site and updated that. Still get the same issue. But I can run fine with Google Chrome and Firefox. Based on this alone, I would hold off if you haven't done so. Another nice update MS (...not!).

As much as I want to like IE I just can't.

It won't let me set as many home tabs as I want, neither does it have all those really handy add-ons that I use in FF & Chrome. The only thing it has going for it is it supports fingerprint logins that the other two don't.

Sadly there is no currently no browser that does everything I want. Perhaps I'm too demanding.

Well it still is shutting down once every couple of hours then reloads the page, annoying but not a game changer. I'm keeping it because it's supposed to be more secure that IE9.

Apparently I am using IE 10 on my work computer, when I use IE. I must have missed the opt out from automatically updating it. Only thing I have noticed so far is that it is apparently not possible to have the menu bar show up automatically. I noticed this when trying to kill the popup blocker. The instructions on MS websites all refer to clicking the "tools button" then going to popup blocker and setting it there. But the tools button drops down an incomplete list of options (a smaller submenu) than the tools hyperlink on the menu bar. There is no popup blocker choice there. There is also no "help" choice there which is why I was searching the web. OK, sez I , this is probably another step in MS trying to make it harder to use everything they make unless you buy a Surface. So I will just set it up so that the menu bar appears on startup. No joy. I can't find out how to do that. So every time I need a real tool menu, I will have to remember to type alt or click on an arcane empty spot. Vast improvement over the old cluttered look, by moving the clutter into my brain. When does a feature become an annoyance?

I *think* I'm using IE10 on my W8 machine.  Which means I have a Surface type version and a proper grown-up version under the desktop.  I believe MS are trying to move away from both Flash and Silverlight which may be why you're getting those messages.  I seem to remember getting a prompt about Flash install which I asked it to go ahead and install, since then it's been fine.

I was thinking of installing FF and/or Chrome but tbh there are only about 5-6 sites that get my tabs so I don't see a lot of point in adding yet more registry entries.

My own debate at the moment is whether to replace my soon-to-end HTC/Android contract with a W8 phone or stay with Android or (heaven forbid) join the loser queues around Apple Stores.  Omnisphere has a free iPhone controller for the synth but I'd probably only use it once to see if it worked.  Had a play with the Nokia W8 phone today but found it confusing, but it would sync nicely with my home setup.  So many choices...
