Has anyone tried the Izotope Elements bundle?
Got an e-mail offer today from Izotope offering bundle for only $79. Trying to weigh whether it is worth it.

As long as you own one of the other products you can buy it... I believe if you own Neutron or Ozone you are still qualified...

As for me, with the RX Plugin Pack, Neutron (standard) and Ozone (full) in my tewlbox, I guess it doesn't add much. Except simplicity.

I had never seen Elements before and sort of on the fence about them (on paper in the comparison charts). Track Assist does exist, but not sure if that cross talks to other tracks (if it does, that feature alone is worth something). They are most likely less CPU hungry than Neutron/Ozone, but the advanced version allow single module insertion and stand alone mode (Ozone). If you have none of the programs yet, it would be worth demoing them. If Track Assist will tap other tracks, that is very nice to check frequency collisions. If you qualify for the $60 upgrade, there are few other VSTs good at that for the same price.

I picked up it up at Gearfest. One benefit is you get in cheaper for the upgrade path. I haven't any of the plug-ins yet, though.

What you're getting are "lite" versions of these products. The only one I've tried is Ozone Elements, and I felt it was too limited to be of much use. You basically get presets and little else. And presets aren't really much help in mastering. That said, if you're thinking in terms of a cheap product to introduce your students to some concepts, it might serve that purpose just fine. But if it's for your own use, you'll be better off using Cakewalk's new limiter.

TL/DR version - I would wait for sales on Neutron, Ozone, or both.
If you have MMBandAnalyzer, that does collision frequency work quite well. The RX plugs I only tried the noise removal with the version above Elements (plugin pack, I think). Although it can achieve nice results it is less straight forward than Adobe Audition (and you can still get AA3 for free, I believe). Waiting for a holiday sale on Neutron, Ozone, or both would be my preference over those Elements versions. Having Ozone yields deals on Ozone Advanced typically, and Ozone Advanced yields deals on everything else pretty much (I remember getting the Music Production Bundle 2 for $199 from owning OA 5 during a sale event and just saw MPB2 is $699 from a recent deals link). Neutron Advanced and Ozone Advanced are a pretty formidable combo which can be used in any DAW (even 32-bit ones).

I really do think larry should be criminally charged for posting so many deals. I am thinking the noise reduction may be worth it though. Then again the next sell i am likely upgrading to mix bundle which i believe has noise reduction portion

Gotta Love Larry , he did play a role in pointing me in the right direction for getting half the stuff I'm enjoying now . In my case the only plugs I have from Izotope are Nectar Elements , a thing called Izotope Mastering essentials that came with Mixcraft 7 , and a Delay . All very functional cut down lighter weight products that can give a good idea of what type of quality Izotope brings to the table ... So Yes , the deal from Izotope your considering had me tempted pretty good .I can certainly understand how you can be on the fence trying to decided what to do . Since I could only do one deal this month in that price range I wound up bumping up my version of Traction Waveform 8 to the full version by doing their July 4 th deal of getting BioTek and their plugin suite ... So many Deals so little Money all the best, Kenny

Had to log in to type this. A "big picture" of what you are seeking is good to bear in mind and it occurred to me after you posted "Nectar 2 Production Suite" that there is a loyalty cross grade for Music Production Bundle 2 from any "standard" product for $399. That does go on sale for $100 off at times (not sure cycle, but Christmas is one of them). That bundle contains the Advanced versions of both Neutron and Ozone 7, as well as iZotope's Insight (and a few others I rarely use). Having bought that a while back, I know that the serial number for the MPB2 unlocks all the components. What I do not know (Larry might know this) is if you can resell your Nectar 2 Production Suite afterwards. Since that is how you are getting the deal, it is highly probable you cannot, but worth a mention just in case.

I have a bunch of iZotope products, but that's mainly because they came in a bundle. None of them are bad. OK, maybe Trash is, a little. I like my distortion to sound like it originated in the real world, a la Saturn or a good amp sim. That doesn't make Trash bad, not really. Just not right for me. Lots of folks love Nectar but I just don't get it, even though I keep trying. Tried it again today, in fact. And once again, meh. Maybe its fans are using it for the harmony generator, a feature I have no use for. Then there's Alloy. Oddly, Alloy doesn't seem to get much buzz, but I love it and find it to be very useful. In the end there's really only one must-have iZotope product, and that's Ozone Advanced. Gotta go for the Advanced package because then you get all the Ozone modules as standalone plugins. And, of course, Insight, which looks very impressive. Visitors see that and think I must really know what I'm doing. ;) I scored all these goodies for, IIRC, 200 bucks or so. It was a sale, plus a discount for previous customers. I already had Ozone Standard (been an Ozone fan since version 2) so I qualified for the discount. They called it the creative bundle, or something like that. I'm pretty sure they're still selling that bundle, so maybe your Nectar will qualify you for a discount.

Hey Kenny, How ya like that Biotek? Like you, I only had room for one deal in the budget this time around, and they had sent me an email about that special deal. I did consider it, because I had tried the Biotek trial for 30 days, and found some really cool ambient environmental sounds in there. Plus it looks like a lot of hybrid potential in there. May end up with that one someday... But in the end I went for the iZotope Iris 2 synth, which was also on sale July 4th! The demo sold me! Great atmospheric and ambient sounds. Love the filtering and modulation options. Plus 11GB of samples to work with. I'll stay busy with this one for a while!
