Has anyone worked with Audiosnap in X3 yet? Is it less twitchy? Couple other ?'s as well.
Audiosnap is one of my biggest beefs with Sonar at the moment. The weird way it detects (or doesn't detect). The graphical wackiness with the transients. Transients not moving, selecting or general behaving as they should. Not saving properly if in the middle of AS sessions. Etc. You know the deal. I know they didn't update that section of the program but am wondering if any of the core enhancements has alleviated some of this bizarre behavior. Also... has anyone run into the "Selection Bug"? The one where in some projects when trying to select something other things get selected randomly and once it starts it doesn't stop. And general graphical glitches like waves washing out, clips momentarily disappearing, screen not updating reliably. Is that stuff fixed? Are the buttons all responding as they should (like the Take Lane MSR buttons which never seemed to work reliably). Just curious as these, as I've mentioned before, are the most annoying parts of X2 for me. Oh and how about that problem that would cause a crash while browsing through more than a dozen synth patches (although I think this is a Dim Pro problem? Hope you are all enjoying your new goodies. Cheers.

Hey Beep! I took this tune... 20130622_Anti_28_BobbyMcGee.mp3 and followed the directions here... http://www.cakewalk.com/D...default.aspx?Doc=SONAR X3&Lang=EN&Req=AudioSnap.08.html#1153985 to take the live recording and map the project tempo to the tempo of the recording... It came out looking like this... Which looked decent. Next, I set the clip to follow project tempo and changed the project tempo to a hard 180 BPM. Next, I bounced to clip and exported. This is the clip that resulted. 20130622_Anti_28_BobbyMcGee_Test180.mp3 It seemed to work ok to me. The resulting MP3 is about 6 seconds shorter than the original due to time stretching.

That's great, Markyzno. You're using Audiosnap on it? I'm still convinced the touch implementations and trying to cram in Win8 compatibility before 8 was released are what caused a lot of X2s niggles. I'm also getting the impression that's why they didn't bother with a second patch because it was too borked up to get up to speed with the final release of Win8. Pure speculation though. Cheers. Hi, gswitz (sorry I haven't gotten back to you... got swept up in the hoopla). I'll check that out in a bit when I dig out my phones. I'm still watching and waiting for now on the X3 thing and will for a while but if it happens it'll probably be the Studio version. Just wish the Quad and Tape Sim came with it. :-/

I just took an old project and made a copy of it. I hit select all in the tracks view and hit delete. ** It did not delete all the clips ** It left 2 clips behind. They did have a slightly different coloring... not sure why. To be sure, I did this... I ctrl+z to undo > ctrl+shift+a to deselect all > ctrl+a to select all > delete... ** same 2 clips survived the delete ** When I do it a second time, all the clips are deleted.

Heh. I was replying to the pre edit post. Seems to still be missing something. Did you use FBBs Extract Tempo method? Unfortunately the tunes I'm working on were WAY too wonked for that but maybe with the improvements I could deal with the more consistent ones. Hours upon HOURS of creating tempo maps manually is... well, not fun. ;-)

Yes Mate, audio snap and transients are working AS THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN in the first place. We both had the same issue and I can say that mine are fixed (although i have only tested this on one project....)

Hmm... that almost sounds like the selection bug but it would usually repeat the glitch no matter how many times you did... so, that is an improvement. Cheers.

That's awesome. Out of curiosity, have you happened to save, close and shutdown while in the middle of an AS session? I'm pretty sure I was telling you about how when I did that the project became completely corrupted. Considering the level of detail I was having to go into (coupled with the glitches) and the track count one song's AS session would take many hours so being able to save, close and go back to where I was would be helpful. Cheers.

Beep, The selection glitch seems to be identical on my old project before and after the upgrade on a project that had the problem to start with. I don't know if it would be possible to cause the problem in a new project now in X3 or not... but an upgraded project that had the problem still showed the same evidence. IMHO, the behavior was identical to X2. Regarding the tempo adjusted tune, honestly, if I didn't know which one I was listening to, I might not know it had been adjusted, and I've listened to the tune A LOT.

gswitz I don't know if FBBs instructions differ from the Help Link I used to make the changes, but the instructions I followed are in this link. http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation/default.aspx?Doc=SONAR X3&Lang=EN&Req=AudioSnap.08.html#1153985
Ah, yes. I've hamfisted my way through that one before when I was going through the manual. The audio has to be in time though and AS detecting (or manually set) the clip tempo. FBB's vid shows how to do that stuff (it's a pain). Hoping to play with this type of thing more now that I'm set back up again. Hoping I can avoid any further life distractions for a while. Cheers.

Yep, tested and working..... The only annoying thing I have found so far with old projects being loaded in is that they seem to take forever to load the waveforms and one project has refused to load the waveforms at all :( BUT, when they do load AS and TM's are working as they should no matter how much I zoom in and out they dont get all Gremlins on me.

Huh, so it is recurring. Weird. If more X3 folks run into this please get on support about it and hopefully they'll figure it out for one of the patches. It makes editing a very tense procedure... and I usually like editing, a lot. They won't listen to me because I don't X3.

Perfect. So one thing fixed and one thing still kind of wonked. Actually I'll be contacting support soon anyway so I'll mention the selection bug and say it's been reported in X3 as well. It's strange how it only affects a few users.

I've been pondering that too and will bring it up with support. Mine's kind of a cheapo but it's a common brand (Gigabyte) NVIDEA with a gig of video RAM. Should be enough. I seriously think it has to do with the touch stuff. Like on certain systems/installs it's interpreting the mouse input data wrong and tweaking out. I really wish they'd do what one of their competitors did (who shall remain nameless) and create a separate APP for people who want to use touch. Putting it right into the core of such a complicated program was just asking for trouble. But what do I know. I am but a lowly Beep. ;-p Oh and that card handles my old games at max settings like a champ. Way better than my old rig. I would try to run any hyper graphic intensive new games on it though.

Cheers. They'll like be an epic thread about my adventures. I'm wiping the system and starting from scratch but I want to chill out for a while and just play around with Sonar to remember everything I learned last year before I had to focus on other stuff. Maybe I'll even *gasp* write a song or two. lol

Truthfully when I hit the zone I kind of disappear. Last winter when I was all set up and studying my face off I hardly posted at all for a few months. I'm getting close to that point again. Posting here when things aren't flowing helps me at least keep my head in the game and come up with ideas. Yesterday was the first day I've opened Sonar in months and although it took me a little bit to remember stuff I didn't have to look at my notes once and my actual workflow was a lot more refined.
