Have-a-go Handbag Heroine!

An old lady foiled an attempted jewellery store robbery in Northampton yesterday, by wading into the 6 thieves - with her handbag!

Have a go handbag heroine!

    yer I saw that.. quality.. :) thing is , she could fairly well shift as well.

    an old bloke did the same maybe about 1-2 years ago again at a jewellers shop.

    although my mum is a bit like that, a gang of youths were at the top of their road blocking the pavement, she told em to shift and have some common sense..  one of them got in her way and he thought it was "funny".. so he got a hit of her shopping bag.. the others laughed at him.  Joke being she was may have been dinner lady to some of the kids parents years earlier.

    years ago she dragged a friend out of his car for parking on the curb,years back... that was well funny as my friend in question is built like a brick out house, but is one of the nicest/none violent people you could meet. people onlooking were WTF hehe

    beagle , she was fast at running over , probably can run faster than me :)
    (not tricky with my dodgy knee)

    here's a bit more cultural for ya...

    and the robbers said..
    "leggit  / leg it" as in... run away

    I'm sure you have plenty of sayings I don't get.. it's always like that, regional things.

    we'll have ya talking like that fella out of mary poppin on no time

    'Shift' - Verb. 1. To move quickly. E.g."You should have seen him shift when I told him they were giving away free beer downstairs." {Informal}

    fixed for (conservative) yanks.

    most people don't say "ace"  - that's why I qualified the "correction" with a "conservative" label.
