Having Trouble Saving File In X1

I just recently upgraded to X1 from 8.5. I used Sonar 5.0 producer for a long time before I upgraded to sonar 8.5.

I worked on a song, that I originally created in Sonar 5.0 and ended up inserting and deleting synth instances   twice last nite.

I save the song about every 5mins before closing it.  When I  re-opened it,  all the instrument settings were gone. Of course there is no sound at  playback.  The 7 insert Synth instances that I set up, were still there but all the instruments that I assigned to my orignal  midi tracks show output and input assigned to my FastTrackPro(external). default midi channel is blank.  The same situation with the synths I input.
I inserted 3 Session drummer, 2 Session bass, 2 DimPro. X1 added 3 extra session drummers. HELP.

I had to delete all synth instances and re-insert them. wassup?? Now Im afraid to update my original tracks for fear of not being able to save them

Do I have to install a quick fix?
I have a dell inspiron, 4g rams, 640 gig hard drive, Win 7, FastTrackPro

Thanks

i would caution opening up projects in x1 that were done in 5.0 that was sometimes ago. and i could be wrong.
but id make back ups of everything your doing now from your old 5.0
8/5 i wouldnt be too concerned

Thanks Charlie for the feedback. I have back ups of my originals.

I think what I should do is create a new file in X1 and cut and past my midi notes into the new X1 tracks.  I had to so something similar in 8.5 to get a song working. Unless anyone else has a suggestion.

    Thanks again Charlie

My suggestion is a simple one.

Only use X1 for brand new projects.

Finish all your WIP projects in 8.5.3

That's what I'm doing and so far I've only had one X1 crash, and that was whilst dragging an Fx plug from the Browser into a track

Thank you for that suggestion.  That's exactly what Im doing now.  I also use staff view all the time and have lengthy notations so  I copy the notes to the new projects and  go on from there. All tracks play fine except for the random click sounds.

The other thing I discovered is that X1 has less notation features than the previous Sonar versions.  We need those staff notation features back please. Many users still write.  I hope there are plans in the next update to bring all that back.  Unless Im missing something? I just found the synth rack last nite.

Thanks Bristol for the feed back.
