Headphone amps?

I'm thinking about getting a set of high-end headphones to connect to the mini out jack on my iPad.
1)  Do I need a headphone amp?
2)  If so, which one?
3)  Which headphones do you guys like?

Depends on the impedance of the headphones. I have a pair of BD DT770pro 80 ohm cans that work great with the headphone jack on my lap top. You take away the convenience and portability of having an ipad if you need to cart around a headphone amp to listen to tunes.

If you are only plugging in one pair of headphones I wouldn't use a headphone amp from an ipad.

I might use a dac like my rme ucx.

I usually add more headphones by splitting the signal.

Headphone amps give a handy volume knob near the performer.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.
