Heads Up - SampleTekk Sale

http://www.sampletekk.com/

I picked up the Emperor and Old Lady Pianos in the last sale. They are excellent. Great value at the list price, but a total steal at $25. I am getting Vertical Pop and C7 Pop and Rock this time around.

Intel i7 3770K @4.4GHz, 32GB RAM, 240GB SSD System disk, 2 x 2TB and 1 x 1TB (with SSD Cache) HDD. Windows 10,  Sonar Platinum. Roland Quad Capture.

I agree, these are top-notch products that are comparable to others that sell for many times the price.

I'm considering the Rain upright, which I think will make for a great rock 'n roll piano. And for twenty-five bucks, the price of a nice lunch!

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Think I've said this to you before, Bit - but I love the Rain!

I just got the Rain Piano...and it sounds fantastic.  I was NOT disappointed.

From earlier sales, I've gotten White Grand Jr. and Black Grand Close.  The Black Grand is good, but doesn't really stand out for me.  The White Grand is flat out incredible....but then again, I like my pianos bright.

I didn't.  White Grand Jr. was my first foray into Sampletekk products, and I stepped into the waters timidly.

Emperor is a newer library, and I believe there are more velocity layers (though I could be wrong). I have both and much prefer Emperor over 290. Both sound good though! That said, the Old Lady is my favorite of the traditional grands.

I am a beginner so go easy on me. :-)

If I were to download one of these, what format should I choose and what would I used to play them? That is, can they be used with anything that is included in X1 Producer?

I'm afraid not.  there are 4 types available:
Gigastudio 3 is a proprietary format which will only work in Tascam's Gigastudio 3 or 4.
Kontakt is a proprietary format which works only in Native Instruments Kontakt.  There is a FREE Kontakt player available for some sounds, but the sampletekk site specifically says the libraries will not work in the free kontakt player, - it must be the full kontakt (I think version 3 or above, but I don't remember for certain)
Halion is a Steinberg proprietary format for their VST sampler.  I don't know much about it.  I think I do have a Halion LE version or something but you see I use it a lot, eh...
ESX24 is a Logic sampler proprietary format.  I don't know anything about it beyond what I've typed here.

so, if you want to use these sounds you have to have a sampler player which will use one of these 4 formats.  most of the people here in this thread I believe are probably using Kontakt (as am I).

I recently got Kontakt4 as well do have most if not all of SampleTanks libraries and wondering if these Sampltekk libraries are worth getting?  Not being a keyboardist, but I do like good piano sounds......how do these Sampletekk libraries in Kontakt compare to Sampletank?
