Right on, Spacey. I'll have to check out the demo. If anyone else buys this who are smarter than I (AKA everyone) please post a review. And on a related topic, are any of you guys using the Acme Bar Gig sims successfully? They are 32bit and I've heard it's had problems with bitbridge but others have had success using JBridge. I've never tried this bridge stuff before but I've heard nothing but good things about those sims and would most definitely like to add them to the arsenal if they work... especially considering they free (which I find odd). Cheers and thanks, Spacey.

It's a very old plug-in. I'd like to believe that modeling technologies have actually improved in the last 6 or 7 years.

EDIT - make that even longer than that. I remember reading about it in 2004 I think...

@Rain... Acme Bar Gig or the one in Spacey's link? The one in his link seems to have a 64 bit version which must be somewhat recent. BTW thanks for your input in the collaboration thread. I got busy with other stuff and never updated it. Cheers.

    :)

Nomad Factory. It's probably been ported, but the software itself was release sometime before 2004, AFAIK. Doesn't mean it isn't good, just that, it's possible that it isn't entirely up par w/ to more recent equivalents. I'm not a huge fan of NF plug-ins, anyway.

The ABG stuff seems to be cutting edge - a bunch of tone maniacs w/ a passion, really dedicated to creating the best possible sound in an amp sim. Maybe someday if they port to Mac, I'll be able to try it for myself.

Thanks again, Rain. I'm gonna check out the demo if I can find the time. The ABG stuff however is really piquing my interest. Just gotta read up on this bridging mayhem so I don't screw something up. BTW I used to head out to Montreal and QC in general as often as I could with the bands. It was always my favorite gigging destination so it's good to see a native Quebecer here. Take care, Rain.

If was going to get any new amp sims, I'd definitely want to check out the stuff Danny's been working with (unfortunately I can't think of the name off the top of my head - I'll do a quick search and see if I can find it).

As I said above, I pre-purchased the version 2.0 but it's still "coming soon" so I do not have it installed.

Thanks man. You're from Canada, too? Montreal's a great city - never got to stay there long enough, seems every time I moved there, fate called me somewhere else after a couple of months. Not sure when/if we'll ever get to see it again, but we still love that city.

    Well back on track...

I tried it. I like it and not trying to sell it to anybody either.
    Your money, your call.
Just thought a heads up would be alright.

Personally- I've had 25 dollars worth of fun tonight with it. It really
does seem to have vintage feel and tones. Really like the effects too.

Seemless with X1. at 64bit. Not one issue and I'll get plenty of mileage with it.

And I'm buying Breeze...so....will have to pass on this...
As much as I hate to....

But THANKS for the heads up...I've actually been tempted
to buy it from Little Fish for $69...but haven't...
This would be a great price...but I'm tapped out...

    Update:
I'm liking it. It may be old, but it's new to me, and I'm getting some tones that my other amp sims didn't do.
So I consider it $25 well spent.

    I'm liking it too Robert.

As with many of the others there aren't many presets
that I like but I don't have any problem dialing in sounds I do like.

I like the simplicity of it and very pleased with the sounds
I can get. Really don't have anything bad to say about it
    and glad I got it.

I haven't use it but may.

I was searching for this today. Thinking...."I should buy that. It's ony $25."

Then I said (in my head) "Bapu, you bought the whole nomad bundle last year. Ain't it in there?"

    So I go and look.

Sho' nuff. I already haz it.

    Saved me $25.

Spacey/Robert B: Can you guys post up a few examples of tones you like that you got out of this? I know I can just download the demo and find out for myself but I usually like to hear an example before I do things like that and there are none to be found on that site.

Reece: The ABG stuff is incredible in my opinion. Nothing I've tried tops it as far as amp sims go and the versions *I* have from ABG. I have no problems with it using it in Sonar 64 as long as I use J-Bridge. The plugs are not ported for x64 at this time, but no issues at all with J-Bridge. The only issue I DO have (which may be fixed in some of the later ABG releases) is, my favorite version "Head Case" beta 1.01, has a 22 second load time in Sonar only. I actually work the for company as a tester and developer on the side. We missed the chance at getting a Sonar version for developers as they only release a few per version. So we were not able to remedy the load time issue. But other than that, once the plug loads, it's fantastic and gives you the choice of several amps as well as a press of a button to where the modern amps turn into plexi's. You have stomp boxes, rack effects, and all sorts of custom goodies you can do to really make this plug kick serious butt.

It's just the load time on that particular version that is a bit of a problem. Each instance you load will put an additional 22 seconds of load time per project load each time that project is loaded up. To me personally, it's worth the wait as no other guitar sim I've ever used gives me the sound or control that this one does.

They do have other versions. Shred is a good one...but don't let the name fool you. It has full control, great clean sounds, and is the same thing pretty much as Head Case...it just has a few different options and was abandoned in its beta stage. Now we have Head Case builder which is pretty cool. You can build your own head and do whatever you want with it. It saves as a .jpg and you can just drag and drop the picture into the head case builder and bang...you have an amp loaded up.

The owner, Ken has a site where people are sharing their amp builds. Visit acmebargig.com to get whatever software you need (if you go with headcase builder) and then go here to grab amps that are already created, drag and drop them in, and have fun.

    http://www.virtualampstash.com/

The ABG stuff is definitely worth checking out though. Just don't let any of the names scare you. They have as good clean and vintage sounds as they do for the modern or more shred type guitarist. And most of all, they are free (for now) and I think you'll enjoy them. Good luck in whatever you decide. :)
