Heads-up! DNS changer... it's coming.

It's malware btw.

Check here (although it's not 100% accurate depending on how your ISP treats your DNS requests):

      Maybe this explains why when I mean to visit the MENSA site I end up in the Coffee House instead.

      I see here that one Anton Ivanov (sounds like the name of a spy-thriller villain, doesn't it?) has actually been extradited from Estonia and is now in New York awaiting prosecution.

      Of course, this is an upgrade for Anton. The prison cells in the US are more spacious than his previous government apartment in Estonia, and the food's better. Still, it's a welcome turn of events. Now if we could only track down that a sshat that keeps posting Aiseesoft spam here...I'd volunteer to personally extradite him to Estonia.

      This is actually "what I do?" I don't do the DNS, but I live in the core of the Internet...

      DNS is evolving to handle threats like this, here's an artical from 2 years ago;

      http://www.internetevolution.com/author.asp?section_id=864&doc_id=195418

      And there are other efforts/initiatives. For the most part, we're OK ;-)

      4.2.2.2 is at the "heart" of the Internet... It's the root DNS server? You can ping it :-)

      This particular threat has been around awhile, and it is a good a reason as any to change the default login details (username and password) on your router (if you use one) to anything other than the router manufacturers supplied ones.

      Of course everyone here will have already done that, right?

      Without a doubt, just like today's most commonly used password - which is still..., password.

      Global network. It's interesting. But it changes so quickly it's difficult to keep up.
