Me and my wife are rooting for you from across the pond mate. You've got the best doctors over there with the latest treatments, and you'll come out at the end of it stronger than ever. Try to keep eating healthily and as often as you can, keep your body and mind strong. The fact that you can work from home will be a huge plus too, it'll keep you busy and focussed. So keep your spirit up. Everyone here is thinking of you. Picture the next 8 weeks as another one of your projects, that you've got 8 weeks to do it in. Best wishes Rob & Leanne

It is unbelievable that you would prey on people whose health is bad and those who are showing sympathy for him. you disgust me.

Best of luck for a quick and positive end to the fog this diagnosis can be (from experience). I know you know that, aside from the ever improving technology, the love of family, friends, and even strangers, is the permanent antidote to this. I hope this monster leaves you whole, with unshaken faith, and a stronger belief in the important things in life...

If you would like to talk Albert I'm here. I went through everything dealing with Throat cancer from chemo, radiation, and surgery. It's amazing how far the treatments have come. I wish you the best!

Albert seems to have recovered well. Fortunately, they caught his in time. Last month he had a hip replacement and is doing well from that, too. :)

Albert: Good luck my friend with the cancer. With it localized as you say it should be treatable. The thing to watch out for IS the treatments you are getting. Radiation & chemo are not the only ways to treat this disease. Make sure you have doctors who are willing to look at additional therapies including nutrition & psychological & supplements. The latter 3 helped me when I went through my ordeal. The big thing with cancer is that it not metastasize to anywheres else in the body. Pulling for you to come through. Oh yeah - on food - you may find baby food easier to swallow and keep down than staying on a regular solid food diet. edit: I wrote this without looking at the dates and the whole thread but the sentiment still stands. The big C can be beat and it looks like you're pulling through.

Hello to every one, I had no idea this thread would come back to life. First a giant Thank You to every one here, your prayers and good wishes made a huge impression on me and obviously helped in the recovery in ways that can't be measured. I have not been posting much anywhere these days, including the facebook thing, for a variety of reasons, mostly that I have become a bit "bored" with the whole internet experience. I seldom check in on the sites that I used to visit at least two or three times a day, and this is probably the first post in two weeks. I have answered a few e-mails, but even that is falling to the wayside. Not sure why, but just one of those things. Very sad to hear about Jimmy, in fact the news really set me back for a day or two. After all, but for the grace of God and a more timely diagnosis, there go I. As Janet noted above, since the cancer treatments I underwent another procedure, this time total hip replacement. Some one else above mentioned the always present danger for cancer survivors, the metastisizing aspect. The check ups after treatment were all asking about pain and problems that I might be experiencing in other locations on my body, and the hip was very troublesome. So they sent me for an x-ray, and it was determined that the hip was close to failing, the ball end was almost gone and the socket was very rough. They came in from the front, a new table they strap you down on makes things easier and less invasive. No muscles are cut, in fact the incision is only about 6" long. I was out of the hospital the very next day, walking without a cane the day after that. I am down to one pain pill every six to eight hours, I walk everywhere without help, steps are no problem....in fact, today I painted the bathroom ceiling. I am back to doing my around-the-house projects, and I am gaining strength every day. I will be involved in a play in October for breast cancer, doing some musical work and stage crew stuff, and hopefully will be back to at least part time work for a paycheck before the end of the year. All because I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. If I had not got laid off, signed up for a career changing school, and gone for an internship with a ear/nose/throat doctor, who knows what might have happened. At my last job I had full medical insurance, but it was just a sore throat. My e/n/throat doctor was telling me at my last visit that most people, even those with good insurance, let the sore throat go untill they start bleeding or can't swallow, or their tongue gets strange and talking or eating gets difficult. By then the problem is so far advanced disfiguring surgery is needed. I happened to be in a position to ask about something very early....you can't write these things, people would think you were making it up.... Thanks again every one Later Albert
