Heaven
https://soundcloud.com/ba...w-bats-brew-album-stay this song, is the closing song on the new Bats Brew album, "Stay". it is a collaboration between myself and "Wookiee", and was a blast to realize the entire thing into it's final arrangement. kudos to wookiee, for killer synths and a really interesting set of chord changes and flights of fancy. happy new year 2016!

No complaints on this one. Love the use of panning certain elements really added depth to the mix. Seriously good job. When's the tour bus getting revved up :)

Wow. I posted comments directly to your soundcloud. But your stuff is amazing. I need to revisit again with the high quality studio system to really feel this completely. The synth at 1:15ish has got my ears attention. I just love sounds like that, so warm and full. It brings me back to being a kid. I'm deep into ambient and psybient instrumental stuff, do you have any instrumental songs that have that same Floyd-ish trippy vibe?

thanks michael, i'm going to look at doing more slow material that has this kind of feel to it.. i need to do a bunch of experimenting to get to a point where i can call something like this my own. wookiee came up with most of this, as far as meter and chord changes, and a lot of the melody is me writing around motifs he already had in the song. cool collab for sure....

thanks for listening bio, yes, i spent quite a bit of time setting up the proper panning on this one.... there are a lot of movements tho, no static panning schemes here! tour bus is in the shop indefinitely. can't afford the upkeep!

The first note grabbed my attention. I knew from that point on I was going to enjoy myself. Great work! I can hear the Floyd reference as well, but the first thing that came to my mind was Queens "who wants to live forever" from their "a kind of magic" album. No specific comparisons, more of a mood setting. Again, well done gentlemen!

slumber, thanks for the comments on the soundcloud board.... very cool. and yes, the soundcloud sounds like crap compared to the discs and downloads... i'd download the FLAC files, if i were you. LOL i do have some older material, that is spacy and trippy.... but nothing i'd put out on an album, just demos and stuff like that. you can PM me if you are interested in those....

ha, enigma + roger waters + larry laLonde = ????????!!!!!!!!!!!!! heheh, that's cool man, i'll take that. Grizzlylip The first note grabbed my attention. the 1st note, you mean that little whammy bar up-bend on the low e string?! hehe, i don't know why i added that in there, i thought i was going to chop it out, but when i kept running thru mix sessions, it just wanted to stay. queen was a huge influence to me (well, at least brian may)..... and that song you mention, that was from the highlander film, wasn't it? cool tune. thanks for listening and commenting grizzly! kakku Congz on the great album!
thanks kakku! album sales are thru the roof!! unfortunately, the house is at the bottom of the ocean.....

This has many of the elements from "Dark Side Of The Moon" which makes this collaboration a success. It has that experimental but classic sound combining terrific vocals with tasty instrumental textures. The mix is interesting and different from what I'm used to hearing from you two. It might need a little "starch" to glue it together a bit, but I'd take it as is. Good job, guys!

Yes, they used that tune in the movie and in the Highlander TV series. The "bar up-bend on the low e string" with the 1/8 note (or maybe 1/4?) delay sealed the deal early on. Glad you didn't cut it! Loved the synth that followed as well, especially on headphones.

Sorry, I blew it with the quotes. I guess I need to read up on how to copy/paste excerpts. What a rookie.

hey james! this collab DID come about, from interaction on the forum... i know there are several projects always in progress at any given time from folks that are willing to do it, i highly encourage it! and thanks for listening Lynn This has many of the elements from "Dark Side Of The Moon" which makes this collaboration a success. thanks a lot lynn, DSOTM was definitely a touchstone for this, along with about 20 years of prog rock...........! LOL

thanks man, you are like the king of collabs, eh? appreciate it Grizzlylip Yes, they used that tune in the movie and in the Highlander TV series. yea, those synths sound pretty huge. that's part of what drew me to it when wookiee invented it... on MY monitors, before i eq'd them to fit the entire mix, it was huge. filled the entire room with sound.... i left in as much girth on the synths as i could, before it started eating up everything else. Guitarhacker really nice stuff to listen too. Collabs tend to bring out the best in musicians.... and this is no exception.
thanks GH, i agree, this was a fun one. bluzdog Awesome!!! Rocky
