Heaven or hell X1b on a working 8.5.3 DAW

Have you installed X1b on your working 8.5.3 DAW?

Did it cause 8.5.3 to crash or malfunction?

My 8.5.3 install is stable. I tested X1b on another computer and now I want to test it on my Lynx AES16/UAD-2/Mackie MCU Pro setup, without compromising the work I have to do.

Thanks.

No problems here, but I'm on an XP Pro 32 bit setup so I'm not sure my experience really pertains to you. I keep all my projects in their own platform. If I started one in 8.5, it stays in 8.5. Anything in X1 is now on X1b without any problems. I have also rebuilt my templates for X1 - just to be safe.

I would recommend taking a disk image before doing this, just in case you need to step back in a hurry.

    Good luck.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!

Codamedia's advice is good advice.  Keep things separate, and re-create your templates in X1x.  Backup !

Thanks - I never have any success restoring disk images. It's simpler to document the install (drivers, software, etc) and back up everyday.

I keep all data and libraries off the boot/software disk.

All is well here with 8.5.3 and X1b coexisting, also I use Acronis True Image for disk image back up
