Hello Cakewalk Moderators
Hiya, My X2 download still wont work, ive still not heard back from cakewalk, please can you ask someone to respond ? I understand the first available download was corrupt, i dont seem to have a different one as i have tried and tried again so many times to keep getting the same error message, once i try and run part 1 .exe it gets half way through and...... 'Run previous packages' i have tried downloading with IE,Fire Fox, Google Chrome, FDM. Ive tried run as administrator, i ve tried the check sums they dont match, i am just at a complete loss. I would really appreciate getting this sorted soon, rather than being out of pocket and no X2. Thankyou for your time, kind regards, Ben

What did you use to download the package? If you used Internet Explorer, you need to use the Free Download Manager with it. I recommend you download and use the Google Chrome browser. What kind of connection do you have: Broadband or dial-up? If dial-up, you should order the disks...you'll never download that much data over dial-up. The first step is to get a clean download.

I know that must be frustrating....but you might try downloading it to a different computer, or at least a different drive since that might be what is corrupting your files. I doubt that the original files are corrupted from the server as many of us have downloaded them without problems. As a matter of fact...I was tethered to my cell phone when downloading all the files and they worked fine.......just a thought.

if the file is corrupt it wont matter how many times i download it it is still going to be corruptisnt it ? The file from Cakewalk is not corrupt. Everyone else has downloaded it and it works fine. Perhaps your disk drive needs to be checked. Right click on the drive in Computer, go to the Tools tab and select Check Now. Then you have to reboot for it to run the check. Also, you need all 4 files in order for it to work. You'll double-click the first EXE file in the set and it will load in the other 3 on its own and install the product. All 4 files have to be downloaded properly for it to work.

Hey Ben, ol pal. Did you empty your cache before your subsequent download attempts? If you didn't it will always show up corrupt. Just a thought.

Hi ben1982, Myself and a few other moderators are doing are best to answer as many questions as possible, but I can tell you the folks internally are responding to as many people as quickly as possible. I'm sorry if they haven't gotten back to you yet. To clarify my sticky above, our files on our server were never corrupted. Some customers were getting corrupted downloads due to whatever reason (slow internet connects, interrupted downloads without using a download manager, heavy traffic on the servers (maybe? who knows), etc.). The point is, when extracting the corrupted installers to their %temp% folder, their extracted contents were corrupted. This was resulting in us having to suggest customers to manually delete their extracted contents in their %temp% folder before running the installer again. The change is that the new Part 1 installers do this for you automatically when running. Very minor change, but it saves people some headaches. In any case, the best suggestion we can make is definitely what some folks above have said (download managers, disk checks, etc.). A download manager will make a huge difference. Also, if you're running any anti-virus software in the background, try temporarily disabling it. The downloads hosted will be safe to download so if you need to feed your guard dog for a moment it's okay to give him a break :) Also, are you downloading multiple files at once? It might be painstakingly slower, but if necessary make a point to only run one download at a time. Definitely don't give up on it!

Hiya Ryan, Thankyou for your response, i missunderstood the corrupted download file thingy sorry, i thought it meant it was the file, not other things affecting it, yes i will try downloading one at a time. I will definitely keep trying as i am happy with sonar as my DAW and want to keep using it :-) kind regards Ben

Should be in your Internet Options. Delete history. Empty Cache. Whatever. Do that and then try another download. I used latest IE but then I did each file one at a time. FDM should work well too. Hope you get it worked out, ol pal:-)

Hi ben1982, To expand on what yorolpal said about clearing your cache ... make sure you are actually deleting the files that you have already downloaded. If you are using a download manager such as Free Download Manager, it will put the files in a default directory and it's not always clear where that folder is located. I would delete them, then remove them from the Recycling Bin. I used Free Download Manager with Firefox 3.6, which is an old version of Firefox. It worked fine here. Another thing I noticed with Free Download Manager is, if you have started to download one of the X2 files (or any file really), then stop it due to slow speed etc etc ... then click on the link to start the download again, it will add a "(1)" or "(2)" to the file name depending on how many times you try to download the file. Make sure you clear out the file list window in Free Download Manager so it is empty before you start downloading your files again, otherwise there may be some confusion with the (1)'s being added to the file. I'm wondering if this is what has caused some problems for others who have been complaining about that problem? Good luck! Bub

Yep,I'm downloading all over again as somehow the CWAF,and the soundcloud app,are completely missing in my installation of X2[done the day after it came out for pre sales peeps]. Very weird to have a running mostly fine X2,but not have CWAF,or Souncloud install? So in case it was the download, which seemed to go fine[chrome],I'm doing everything from scratch, although I had hoped my "box" would have arrived by now[35 dollars postage!!!] I have X1[the very first dvd no.1]installed,so I could get back the CWAF[as I thought it may have been dropped-which I know it's not now]and X1 actually works really good,it's funny seeing the Pro Channel so basic again . Anyway,I'm going to completely un-install the X2[the one without soundcloud/cwaf]but leave the "basic" X1-for remembered paths etc,and install the "newly" downloaded X2[finishes dwnlding in 10 mins],and fingers crossed "soundcloud" installs This time![as I have a little riff "thing",done]. I was impressed that the first install of X2,found all my X1D Exp.stuff, and my plugin paths etc,BUT if i uninstall all of this "first" X2,will the basic version of X1,remember these paths[you know how it has THAT pop up box, that says "do you wish to uninstall blah blah-"yes/yes to all","no/no to all"?]I'm wondering WHAT I should DO here?-"No to all"? Thanks Bob
