What version of Sonar do you have? Some versions come with TH2 Producer - that has amp sims and some effects.

Sonar Platinum, 64 bit, win 7 pro - 64 bit
    Core i7 3770k 3.5 Ghz, 16 Gb Ram, 480Gb + 256Gb SSDs, 1 Tb Velociraptor, Echo AudioFire4

That should have guitar rig 4 le - a light version of GR 4. The sonitus fx are pretty good and so is the perfect space conv reverb. If you use the amp sims with GR 4 and push beyond a clean sound you'll probably need to do a little notch filtering in the high end. Personally I didn't use GR 4, but it sounds like you may not have a choice.

Although this isn't included in Sonar, check to see if Amplitube 3 or 4 is available for free. There's some decent amps/cabs in the free versions. You'll just need to setup an account/register with IK Multimedia.

I went to one of the VST download sites (cannot recall which) some time ago, and downloaded a bunch of freeware x64 VST amp modeler plugins - I would suggest you look for some of those.

    Good luck,
