Help!!! Convert a project from 48kHz to 44.1kHz

Hi!

I've got a cuple of projects for live performance, that are done in 48kHz (I owned a Maya 5.1 USB before ---> ASIO worked with 48kHz only). I would like to use my digital output of my M-Audio FW Audiophile to play directly into my Yamaha DMP9-16 (digital mixingdesk). The problem is, that the DMP9-16 needs a keypress anytime a song is played in 48kHz. This problem doesn't exist with songs, that are done in 44.1KHz.

My quuestion:

Is there a SMART way to convert a project into another samplerate???

Otherwise I would have to export every track as a single wave....when all audio is exported delete all audio and change the samplerate of the song.....finally import all the audio track by track..... this would spend me weeks

Another solution would be a hardware samplerate converter, like a behringer ultramatch.....

    Hm, that's really some problem...
Just a quick guess: Have you tried using some batch samplerate-converter like Voxengo's r8brain Pro to simply convert the contents of the regarding audio-folder?
I must admit, I'm not sure if Sonar will any longer load the WAVs afterwards again without chaning the projectfile, but this is at least worth a try, isn't it?
(Assuming you make a backup of that folder before, of course!)
Otherwise, I have no idea what to do since one can only change the bit-depth for the particular project inside of Sonar....hmm...

    cheers,
    Chris

    Yeahhh!!!

Thanks a lot! I tried it out with a testproject, and it woks fine. There is an option to save the audiofiles of every song into another folder. I'll do that, convert 'em and put 'em back into my audio folder. and of course, I'll make a backup ;)

Hey, good to know that it works!
(Or to say it in german: Schönes Ding! *g*)

    cheers,

    Bas news!!!

It just works, when there are only audiotracks, that start at 0sec. The position of audiodata is stored in samples in the project file. The measure of Samples differ in both sample rates relative to the time.

    ok....here is the workaround:

-Every audioclip have to start at 0 sec.
    -Bounce every audiotrack to clip.
    -Backup audiodata.
    -Convert Samplerate
    -reopen the project

Sh!t, I almost worried that there could be a drawback like this, the solution was too nice to be true...
Would it be a great effort if you just "bounce to clips" all audio-tracks that way, that they actually start at 0 secs?!
I know it's an ungly solution, but better then being forced to export and re-import all that stuff separately, I think.

    cheers,
    Chris

Edit: *lol* Seems a I was a bit too slow this time in answering! ;-D

It worked just fine. You just have to ignore the message that there is broken audiodata that will be filled with silence. Makes sense, as the sampleposition of the end of audiodata has got a higher value with 48kHz than with 44.1. That means that some silence is added at the end of every audiofile. Doesn't matter. After saving the project this message will not appear anymore.

Hey Ron!!! Don't you think that converting project samplerate would be a great feature. Should be very simple to implement.

    1. Convert all project audio data.
    2. Recalculate all sample positions: new position = (new samplerate / old samplerate) * old position ......or the like
