Help - I get midi 1/2-step pitch change on playback

Hi - I recorded some audio on 1 track, and then recorded a midi track with lead.  The midi track used Native Instruments Reaktor 5.

On playback, the Reaqktor 5 midi track plays back 1 whole step down from how I recorded it.

I did no transposition, and while I used the pitch-bend wheel in the recording of the midi track, at the end of the track there is no use of the wheel, so I do not think that would have done this to me.

Does anybody have any thoughts on how I can fix this?  I had saved the project without realizing the transposition had taken place, so now it opens and plays with the shift down by a whole step.

Thanks!

You should be able to transpose the midi back to where you want it.

Thanks for the speedy reply.  The thing is that the pitch of the instrument itself has dropped, and yet there is no indication I can see as to why this has happened.  Quite strange.

Check if you have a value entered into the transpose box in the track header.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I checked - there is nothing entered in the track header transpose.  I also went into the Reaktor 5 synth and checked to make sure nothing was changed that would affect the pitch like that.  I then went back to the midi track and it only plays back properly with me entering a +2 value into the 'Key' window.

    It's quite bizarre.

Well - maybe something happened to you that happened to me a while ago...

I was using a E-M Xboard61 to record some MIDI tracks. Every time when I recorded something I noticed that after using the pitch wheel the sound was a few semi tones "off center".

It turned out to be a calibration error of the pitch wheel. The calibration was done a bit sloppy leaving a too sensitive "death zone". Even the slightest movement resulted in a pitch bend (most times up, but that varied), and the return to centre was not detected as the zero-centre but slightly off-centre.  Even the finest regulators (if you are using non-digital regulators that is) have a slight tolerance, so setting the detection too sensitive is (obviously) not preferable.

This was solved by re-calibration the pitch wheel. It was a three minute affair, and after that the pitch wheel worked as expected.

I do not say this is happening to you, but if the events you describe take place not before, but after using the pitch wheel, the above is maybe a thing to take in consideration
