Help! I live in Alabama and I'm snowed in!!!! WTF is this stuff?

Blame it on the Greenland block.... a nasty ridge of high pressure over Greenland that prevents normal weather flow across the US. I live in the northeast, this is a normal winter for us...what I wouldn't give for a blizzard to shut things down so I could play more with SONAR!

Wow snow in the south but hardly any here in Philly.... That's sucks dude, we deal with it every year here, which is why I'm heading to Florida for the rest of Jan!!!

Global warming, the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans, is causing climate changes. I don't imagine people in Alabama believe in such wild ideas as science. Let me put it this way: God is angry and so he's making it snow in Alabama.

Reminds me of a joke that goes around these parts every year or so...

Sven and Ole (a couple of guys from Minnysohta, don't ya know) both died about the same time, and were sent to Hell. 

Upon arrival, the devil told them, "boy, do I have some stuff lined up for you guys," and proceeded to put them in a hotter-than-average room.  So what do Sven and Ole do but take off their coats and start dancing around in joy.

"What's wrong with you guys?"asks the devil, "You're supposed be miserable!"

"Oh, this is nothing," Sven said.  "Oh, ya," said Ole, "It's like a spring day in Minnysohta."

Not to be thwarted, the devil took Sven and Ole and threw them into the hottest room in the place.  They promptly took off their shirts, lay on the ground, and relaxed.

"Great," said the devil.  "Doesn't this bother you?"  "Vell," Ole said, "This is just like those wonderful late-August days in Minnysohta up in da Nort Voods."*  A guy could get a tan, don't ya know?

The devil, frustrated beyond words, called up Environmental Control and commanded that the heat be turned off and the air conditioning be turned to maximum cooling. 

Immediately, snow began falling, the ground frosted over, and any water present became ice.  Sven and Ole sprang up and began cheering.

"I give up," said the devil.  "What do you have to say for yourselves?"

"This is the best day of our life," Sven said.  "Da Vikings won da Super Bowl!"

I drove to Biirmingham ... I-59 is icy ... and almost desolate.  Trucks are stuck going the other way (toward Chatanooga).

'I managed to spin off the road once or twice ... but made it to the Day's Inn.

What is Snow? I seem to remember it from years in KC but it's only a "flurry" memory now.   If they even predict snow in Birmingham, according to a friend that lives there, the city shuts down.

and all we got was a thin coating of ice.... and a few flurries yesterday.

They were calling this an Epic storm, well, for someone else obviously.

Last one dumped 14+ inches and rumors were that this was going to be more...... pffffft!

...we be getting nothing but snizzlebits right now...after all we got clobbered with 7 feet of the dang stuff a few weeks ago...
