Help!! Issue with Sonar + Zed R16 + Windows 10

I recently got my R16 back from being repaired and have been trying to get it configured again but this time with Windows 10. Everything is up to date but I'm unable to use the Main L/R output on my Master channel. I've tried just about everything I can think of and I'm still can't any audio out of it.

I'm running it with ASIO, 44.1 and can get sound working if I route the Master to one of the other channels (ex. 1/2). I'm trying to recall how I had the routing configured and have tried clicking Digi Master - Main Mix L-R but can't get it worked. Basically, I've tried just about all the combinations I can think of on the board. I have the outs routed to the CRM L/R on the mixer.

I'm hoping someone familiar with one can help as I'd like to know if it's a configuration thing or if something else is wrong my board.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

    Hello ,
In the Zed control panel, Ensure that the WDM setting for output had the Channel One/two Mapped to Channel 17/18. That is where I would start based on your description. IHTH

    Thanks for the reply!

I don't seem to recall having the WDM options in Windows 8, and are these settings being used even if I use ASIO in Sonar?

EDIT: I just checked and I already have the WDM 1 + WDM 2 mapped to the 17 & 18 channels.

    Ok...
Some other items. things I looked at were.
Ensuring that all of I/O is checked in the Prefs-devices
My playback and recording master timing settings in Pref-devices-driver settings were also set to channel 17/18.
On the mixer, I have the digital master to L/R "engaged" and none of the other channels L/R buttons "engaged" so that I can here the output of the DAW. (No channels routed back to the mixer tracks in this example). IHTH

    - I/O inputs & outputs are all checked.
    - 17/18 are both set as playback and recording
    - I enabled the Dig Master to L/R (above the phones input) and disengaged all the L/R buttons. So far I haven't gotten anything running through.

I seem to recall previously had I had all the L/R buttons enabled but perhaps it wasn't necessary? I had occasionally run a track out of Sonar back through the board (for hardware inserts, additional eq, etc.) but typically used it for recording and playback.

Thanks for all the suggestions, they're very much appreciated. It's just very strange that I can't get the 17/18 to output any sound and it's driving me crazy.

    Wow.. Ok...

Lets go back to the DAW. Do we see playback on the master bus when the song plays and the master. Can we make the hardware outs appear in console view and confirm that output is on what channel.... Report back pls.

The to point of using the digital maser or the channel LR....I use the boards L/R 16 channels as a analogue mix down of my DAW Mix. I send the Channels and or busses back into the board to sweeten with the EQ and then record the main L/R. That's the beauty of this board.. its versatility.  IHTH

    I know right?

In console view, the Master is routed to Stereo ZED R16 L/Main L/R. There is indeed playback and the audio meter is moving.

I've had the R16 for over a year and it's a great board. It's just that it's been out of commission for a few months (bad capacitor, replaced PSU) and I was forced to do the Win 10 update. So it's a little tough trying to figure out trying to make sense of why I can't get anything out of the 17/18 output.

EDIT: On the back of your R16, are all the ADAT IN lights lit? I just noticed the OUT are lit red and figured I'd ask. The back of the R16 is set to Firewire + 44.1.

I also own an AE ZED R16.  Last I checked there was no driver for Windows 10.  That could be your main issue.  That's one reason I have not upgraded my PC beyond Windows 7 Pro.

    Hi,

My ADAT lights are the same as yours. I thing the outs carry the light signal where the In's accept it. There is a driver for windows 10. 4.2.0 . Is that the version that you have? Also please confirm in which of the  hardware out's do you see the signal ( in addition to the output on the Master bus). Let us know and thanks

Yes, I'm using version 4.2, for both the Windows Drivers and the Firmware.

I can see the signal come through on any of the 1-16 channels when I from my Master bus to other channels like 1/2 or 15/16 instead of L/R. I get the signal light and everything. I still do see the audio meter moving when I route to L/R on the Master bus.

I just tried reinstalling the R16 Windows drivers again and haven't seen any change. I did notice one of the FW ports on the back of the R16 doesn't seem to work but the other one does. I even threw this out to A&H and got a response but they stopped replying a day or so ago after giving a few "simple" suggestions. I think this is slowly driving me crazy...
