Help Need some INFO

Ok first off i am a NOOB to cakewalk pro, but I currently play Bass guitar in a local band and have been asked many times about a CD. I am also a computer geek, but however i do not know much about the home recording thing we have a 24 channel sound board and i have a laptop with a AMD 64-bit 3.0 processor and 1.5 gigs of memory and a 24-bit sound card. can anyone tell me how to digitally record from the sound board to my laptop (do i hook it up as if it were one of the mains or a monitor and if so how?) if i can get that far i can probally figure out the diffrent track thing

what kind of console are you using? What kind of soundcard is it?

If it's an analog mixer, you can't "digitally" record. You have to use the analog outs (1/4", RCA, etc) and send them to the analog inputs on your soundcard. If it is a digital console, you should be able to use a SPDIF or Lightpipe out, if your soundcard has a digital input.
You need to supply more detailed info.
