Help : No audio when exporting
Hello people of the forum, and anybody who is reading this. I recently got Sonar X1 producer and I've been working on this project for a while, and I finally got it to the point of where I want to export it. When I do export it, the project is only 4 KB in size and is approx .0001 seconds long. I've tried selecting parts in the program, and exporting as different files, including .wav and .mp3, yet the exported product does not have any of the audio from the project itself. I've looked for help, and this seems to be an extremely rare problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

Actually nevermind, I restarted cakewalk and that seemed to fix it. Somehow...

usually has to do with what buses are muted or the currently selection. You probably already know how to properly export though. Just to make sure, do a select all before Audio -> export

JoshWolfer Just to make sure, do a select all before Audio -> export Really? Why is that? I have the same problems myself, I maybe have to export 2-3 times before any sound is heard in the output file. Thuis file soemtimes is big, but silent. If I opt for Export buses, and select the Master bus, shouldn't I export what I normally hear from the Master bus? As a matter of fact, I dfind export sometime awkward, but I must admit I have not studied it very carefully. For example, I would like to export only the loop portion, but find no way to do that. Sonar will export what you have selected. So if you only want to export a section, you can select that and export it. If you have nothing selected, Sonar will export the whole project but oftentimes you'll have just some minor thing selected and that gets exported instead. I've just gotten in the habit of selecting-all before export. Or, I use markers to set my export points so that the export is the exact same length each time. That's because I use my mixes in lots of other projects like soundtracks.

Thanks SCorey, I'll be sure to start highlighting as a good habit.

Yup. Exactly. I have no problems exporting when I select all. Other times, it's hit or miss.

I've just gotten in the habit of selecting-all before export. My longtime and by now automatic habit is to press W - F9 - F10 before every export.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

Another method that works flawlessly as well is to do a Ctrl - Shift - A which ensures that nothing is selected. Then the export function will allow you to do the selecting of entire mix, tracks or buses with no danger of something not being available or inadvertently selected. Bit, Is that combo of W - F9 - F10 one of your own Keybindings? I just get an eraser that deleted my entire project doing that combo(just kidding about deleting the project but at the end of the 3 keys all I get is an eraser from the tool menu)

Is that combo of W - F9 - F10 one of your own Keybindings? My guess is that it's a pre-X1 thing. In 8.5 and previous, that combination is Rewind To Zero (w), Adjust the left edge of selection to now time which is now at the beginning (F9), and Adjust the right edge of selection to the now time which is now at the beginning (F10). I think the net effect is select none... is that right? X1 changed F9 and F10 to do other things.
