You need an actual bass with round wound nickle strings  or find a really good bass soft synth.

    Do you play bass?

Yes I am a bass player, I play Spector basses, I've tried all kinds of strings, but can't seem to get that tone in my studio....
I think the next thing I may want to do is find out who the bass player is on that cut, and try to reach out to him, somehow...

That's Chuck Loeb, he is from my area, Philadelphia he is a great guitarist.  Victor Wooten and Gerald Veasley are all from this area as well, they are bass players.

I did two audio sessions for Gerald Veasley and one for Victor Wooten.   I was working for a group called a breath of Heaven when I was doing the audio sessions.    I never Met Chuck, but have heard his music.

From the song - Just Us.  The album is called, "The Moon, The Stars And The Setting Sun"
    Acoustic Bass – John Patitucci
    Flugelhorn – Tony Kadleck
Guitar, Keyboards, Drum Programming – Chuck Loeb
    Marimba – David Samuels*
    Percussion – David Charles (2)
    Piano – Mitchel Forman,
    Vocals – Carmen Cuesta,
    Written-By – C. Loeb*

I play bass too, well I am still in the learning phase of it.   I have a Schector Diamond- Raiden DLX 4, it's Blue.  I love the sound of it.

You need a fresh new set of strings to get that "zing". It wears off after a short while. I suggest Rotosound Swing Bass.

    Thanks Kev,
I use DR High Beams, they sound pretty cool, but they don't sing they way I want them to...
I used Rotorsound a while back, great sound, but they tore up my frets, lol..
Maybe I should revisit, if only for a short while...
