Help! Suddenly X2 stopped seeing my interface

Hi, I closed project I was working on yesterday, it was all fine. Today first thing I see is the message "There are no audio devices for the current driver model on your system. ..." then another window with "Silent buses detected". I tried Edit -> Preferences -> Audio -> Devices and my Edirol UA25  is not listed on "Input Driver" nor "Output Driver". I have restarted computer several times, unplugged and plugged USB cable, tried different sockets, nothing works. The UA25 USB control flashes ok, mp3s are playing fine (via Windows). What might have happened?

Hi - welcome to the forum.

If your audio interface is set to be your default Windows audio device, do song files play OK, like MP3 or WMA tunes?

Also, did you possible move the USB connection to a different port?  If so, you may need to install the interface drivers again.

I get that sometimes with my Roland Octa-Capture. I have to power it down and restart it and somethimes a restart of the computer. Restarting the puter without restarting my ROC makes no difference.

Thanks Robert and Guitarpima! My interface is powered by USB so I had to restart the computer. I did that seven times and nothing happens - I mean no UA25 on device list, mp3 are played ok everytime. I am so confused because everything  is exactly as I left it before when my interface was recognised by Sonar ok.

That's something I haven't seen in a while but happened often with X1. Make sure to go into your preferences and check that your audio and midi devices are still selected. If the project doesn't see them then you'll get those errors.

Perhaps your driver mode is no longer set to ASIO?

Are you using a lap top, then the sound card must be loaded, sometimes that throws a glitch in your audio devices under preferences

Go to preferences\ devices, does your UA25 still show up and are they checked off?

As I found with two USB ports on this computer, plug in the same device to the same port every time, such as yours audio interface or some type of MIDI controller... otherwise the devices will not respond

Then if all is blank in devices, reinstall the UA25 drivers again.....

This happens often with some Roland and M-Audio interfaces. Try this:

    1) Exit SONAR
    2) Verify that SONAR is not running in the task manager
    3) Unplug/Replug the interface
    4) Go to device manager, disable then re-enable the audio device.

At that point the driver should be released and SONAR can access it.

    Best Regards,
    Seth

Thanks again, it was set to ASIO all the time. After the 12th restart UA25 finally showed up in devices and I have signal coming from my speakers. And I did nothing other than keep restarting the comp, so I still dont know what might have caused that and I am afraid it may happen again. Would you say I may need to get another interface?
