Help! Users of Novation zero mkii (or novation device) with Sonar X2 or X1

Help! Users of Novation zero mkii (or other novation device) with Sonar X2 or X1, and using the sonar  mixer control

Automap works great for plugins, but setup of automap set up doesn't seem to have created the "controller surface defination file" for automap universal (as mentioned in set up instructions for x1) that allows you to set up for mixer control.

If in your C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces folder you have the .dll for "novation automap universal" (or anything from novation in that folder) can you upload it?

Not sure why after installing automap it isn't in there as suggested by novation set up, or has cakewalk removed it as an option?

I do not want to use ACT templates as i want to flick modes on the zero quickly

thanks in advance.

    Hi Thowell,

Just to confirm, when you go to setup the control surface in Sonar, are you not seeing an option for Novation Automap Universal in Sonar's Controller/Surface Settings dialog?  If this is the case, what version of Automap are you running?

Have you tried reinstalling Automap?  The most current version can be found here:

If you continue to have difficulties setting up the Zero SL MK II with Sonar, please contact Novation support here:

For basic Sonar mixer/transport-controls you just make sure the Automap midi device is enabled and then add it on the control surface page.

I use A Novation Impulse and latest version of Automap with X2, and the mixer controls work fine ~
but I do not see the .dll file you mentioned on my system.

Did you use the Automap Sonar setup guide as a reference?
You should be able to find it in the Novation/Automap program installation folder under "Setup Guides".

You might have to manually map the controls to get the mixer features to work correctly, but once you get a template built in the Automap Editor they work fine.

    Pretty cool, too...

Did you get your Impulse to Automap to Prochannel? Prochannel plugins not exposed so they can't be automapped. This was complete show stopper for me in X1 and my Impulse. Love it will Ableton Live but I really wanted to use it with prochannel as well.

I've been having issues with this. I did the set up as instructed but I have both X1 and X2, and it only shows X1 during set up.
So after setup. automap not doing its thing...???

X2 is currently not detected by Automap in regards to showing a setup guide.  This will be corrected in a future release, but in the meantime, if you have X1 showing on the list you can use the setup guide for X1 to set up X2.   Otherwise, as rivers88 noted, you can find the setup guide in C:/Program Files (x86 if you are using a 64 bit OS) /Novation/Automap/Setup Guides/Sonar X1

I haven't tried using my Impulse with any of the Prochannel plugins yet ~
most of my attention lately has been focused on assembling & tinkering with my " semi-modular  " analog synth rack.

I definitely need to spend some more time with X2...

It is possible to use Novation Automap with Prochannel plugins in X3 via the ACT MIDI Controller.  Prochannel plugins are exposed to ACT, and it's easy to hook up Automap to ACT.

This post is a few months old, so you have probably figured this out already.
