What was the problem with the P650? Did it just fail? On paper it works because it has the 1.5V key on the AGP card edge connector. I just bought a used Matrox P750 and a new Asus A8V Deluxe MB, and I was hoping they'd "play well with others". I can't even test it yet because I still need other components.

You had me worried there because I just bought a new P650 with the triple head kit for my A8V. I checked the specs for the card and MB and the P650 should work together. The P650 is 1.5v and the A8V *only* supports 1.5v cards.

Don't worry about the P650. It's AGP 8X, and by definition it's 1.5V. But for all you forward-thinkers, it will even support 0.8V AGP! If you need the gory details, this spec page says it all. This is a great card for a DAW, BTW.

Interesting that the P650 has analog specs being better than the DVI specs...strange. I must be missing something.

Yeah, it seems strange to me, too, but in practical terms it really doesn't matter very much. Having digital resolution beyond what a flat panel can natively display is meaningless, because the panel hardware then has to interpolate (smear) the results. This one will take you to 1200 pixels vertical, but most 19" LCD panels I've looked at are natively 1280 x 1024. If you need more than that, then more power to ya!

Hey guys.... For those that bought the msi 5200 I read this: Beware of DVI-D This card is great for the price. My only problem is that the DVI port is DVI-D, not regular DVI. DVI-D is a rare, digital-only connection used in high end equiptment. What it's doing on this card I can't guess. It is not compatible with VGA, which is what 90% of all monitors require... " I reiterate: Beware of DVD-D! If you think you are going to drive two analog monitors (LCD and/or CRT) with this card using a DB15toDVI adaptor on the DVI port, consider yourself warned: This card has a DVI-D port, not a DVD-I port that can be converted to DB15 analog format to drive an analog input LCD or CRT. You MUST have a digital input DVI-D LCD for it to work. Educate yourself with the "Video Card Interface" PDF in the "Item Intelligence" tab for this product, and you can save yourself the headache I had sending a $40 card back. (The main screen should list the DVI port as DVI-D only, with warning note, in my opinion.) Overall, not a bad card for the money, if you are aware of the DVI-D issue.) Anybody run into problems?

Can anybody suggest a low priced AGP card for dual CRT monito use with the ASUS A8V deluxe then? I was just about to order my new system with the MSI Gforce FX5200 when I read this thread...

I've used an nVidia 5200-series card (Gainward) and 5600-series card (eVGA) with great success. Both have heat sinks instead of fans. I chose nVidia over ATI-based cards because I have software thatprefers nVidia's OpenGL drivers.
