Help creating this sound?

Hello all, I'm looking for help creating the pulsing electric piano sound heard in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obUTiRHiHew

It's the main "pulsing" electric piano part that I'm referring to.  I don't think it's an EP with delay, as you don't hear a chord continuing to echo when the subsequent chord is played.  Yet it really doesn't sound like he's just playing rhythmically perfect 8th note chords.  To me, it sounds like he's holding down the chord, like a pad, but the sound retriggers in a constant 8th note pulse.  I know I've played patches that have this "effect" but I have no idea how to program it.  I have Addictive Keys, Kontakt 5, Dim Pro, and Rapture, all of which I figure can generate the main sound.  It's how to make it pulse that I'm unsure of.  Also, I detect a slight modulation type effect, maybe a light filter sweep, maybe a subtle tremelo, but I can't be sure.  If any golden-eared synth programmer wants to lead me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it!

This describes something similar to what you are asking . . .   Someone else may have more specific information but this will give you some ideas . . .

If anything, it is interesting  . . .

It's probably not one sound or vi, it sounds like 2 or 3 layered sounds.

Take some time and delve into some study of sound design (in depth).

I think pan modulation would just move the sound back and forth across the stereo field, and that's not what's happening I don't believe. When I get to the DAW shortly I'm going to try applying a tempo-synced LFO to control filter cutoff. Its a technique I just read about that can give a pulsing synth sound. We'll see how it does with a Rhodes type sound...

Thank you all for the suggestions. Syphus, that was an interesting video! I know next to nothing about modular synth programming. And promidi, I'm going to play around with pan modulation. Should some lend some nice motion to the sound.
