Help please

I am still learning the software, so please be patient with me and my ****iness. Could someone please walk me thru the steps of recording vocals to music that was sent to me as an mp3. I imported the instrumental track and opened a 2nd track to sing too but the mentrodome is clicking. And while I am recording, i can hear everything in my speakers. If someone has time and can help i appreciate it. Oh yea, its Studio GT pro with cakewalk sonor LE

Scotty - I'm traveling so not in front of the DAW (and somewhat uncharacteristic for the forum, no one responded to your question.... they may be watching the Dow instead of the DAW... sorry, little financial humor).

    Anyway, a couple suggestions:
    1) For recording vocals you'll want a decent pair of over the ear headphones so you can hear the music while you're singing.
    2) The tricky part, for me anyway, is being able to hear my vocals... so I'll set up a separate bus that outputs to the sound card and then an Aux send off the voice track to go to that so I can turn the Master down and the headphones up.
    3) You can turn the metronome sound off; I think that's under Options>General or something like that.  I haven't gone in there for awhile and am on the road away from the DAW.

Hang in there.  There's a bit of learning curve as you get set up but it gets more and more fun and rewarding as you go along.
