Help setting up Midi Shaper in Sonar Platinum

Is anyone using Midishaper from Cableguys in Sonar Platinum? I haven't had any success with routing. I saw on the Vableguys website a walkthrough with X2 in which the registry had to be modified but doesn't seem relevant as the Platinum registry default for generateEvents is 1. I've also read with Platinum that we should be able to load midishaper as an fx plugin and just drop in the fx bin. I've tried that with various soft synths and that doesn't seem to be working either. What am I missing?

I wrote the X2 instructions for CableGuys. Starting with X3 it became easier, no need to mess with the registry, drop the plug-in into an audio track FX Rack and Enable MIDI Output from the VST2 menu above the plug-in UI. Once MIDI output is enabled, the plug-in will be available as a MIDI input source.
