Help - stuck at the first hurdle :-( Not getting any sound output

Hello

I installed MC5 about an hour ago, as I have a number of wav files which I would like to mix together.  I have therefore imported the Wavs and this all seems fine.  When I try to play them I get no sound from my computer speakers.

The soundcard is working (it is a realtek) and if I play music from itunes all is well.  Music Creator does a test to detect soundcard and finds it ok and tests all the frequencies and says that is all ok.

Not sure where I am going wrong but I am?

Can anyone help?

Welcome to the forum.
What operating system are you using? Is it a 64-bit OS? If Windows 7, did you download and install the MC 5 update?
In MC under Options>Audio, make sure that the RealTek is listed as both Playback and Recording Device and that it's drivers are selected under the Drivers tab. Also, what Driver Mode is selected?
In the tracks you imported the .wav files into make sure the output is your sound card. Better yet, insert a bus (at the top- Insert>Stereo Bus) and select that bus as the track;s output. The bus's output would then be your sound card.

pretty much what he said.... the stock cards normally like the MME drivers.

This fixed it!  Thank you very much for your help Gregy.  I can see that this is going to be a slow and painful learning curve :-)

Thanks again
