Help with Draw Tool

Maybe I'm just doing something wrong (probably am) but every time I try to draw in an automation envelope (in an audio track) it turns into an adventure. Sometimes, after drawing a curve, the new line will disappear. Sometimes - if I have drawn another curve very close to it - it will simply remove the other curve. Sometimes it will create additional nodes where I did not draw one. This should be fairly simple. Even when I just add nodes and try to move them (not using draw tool) strange things happen. Am I alone? Is this a bug? Or (hopefully) I am just using the tool incorrectly?

    Trying to draw an envelope brings me out in a cold sweat these days. Reminds me of the fairground game where you have the iron ring and you have to negotiate it along a curved and twisted piece of live wire, making contact activating a shocking buzzer...

    But yeah, I can't do envelopes either. They come out a bit rubbish. Liked it better when you could just add a node and play connect the dots.

    You don't need the draw tool, just double click on the line with the main smart tool and drag it where you want it, then choose curve with right click(slow, fast, straight) and adjust it to however you want it.

    Sometimes the draw tool is way better than trying to manipulate an envelope via nodes. But sheesh those problems sound terrible!
